    2025 Newfoundland

If you're taking the 16-hour Argentia<->N. Sydney ferry, be aware that there's a "No Sleeping On The Floor" policy. They'll ask you to get back into a chair to sleep. Better to book a cabin if you can't sleep in a chair or need to be horizontal. And the cabins do book up faster than the chairs.

St John's was a cool little town, very hilly. We visited the Quidi Vidi brewery, very cool-looking place and good beer too. Quidi Vidi Brewery - Shop If you like dark ale, try their 1892! Ches's Fish and Chips is a NFLD institution. Locations — Ches's Famous Fish and Chips Of course, go...

    The No-Tariff Motorcycle Gear Thread

Yep. Just giving people alternatives, if they haven't heard of some of these companies or weren't exactly sure which country they are headquartered out of. I was surprised at some companies who I thought were US, but turned out weren't... Cool cool. Added. CJ Designs is more of an online...

    The No-Tariff Motorcycle Gear Thread

Very recently! Less than a month ago! https://news.goodyear.com/2025-01-07-Goodyear-Announces-Sale-of-Dunlop-Brand-to-Sumitomo-Rubber-Industries Thanks for the catch. Will update the list. @shanekingsley will be happy to try out the Roadsmart tires. Plus, I am particularly fond of the...

    The No-Tariff Motorcycle Gear Thread

Saw an online list of American foodstuffs to avoid at the grocery store, and some Canadian alternatives. Here's a list of some non-American brands that we can shop for, if at all possible. I know the motorcycle parts and gear market in Canada is but a drop in the global bucket, but it doesn't...

    Groundhog Day 2025!

Today I learned that groundhogs only live 6 years on average. Punxsutawney Phil has been predicting the winter since 1886. Unless he's been re-living the same day for almost a century and a half...

    Normal car recommendation….

Love those 0% finance deals! It's a win-win as well, as the vehicle you're buying doesn't depreciate as much as when the manufacturer slashes the price of all the models across the board. Everybody with a late-model 890 took a $5K haircut when KTM had a fire sale on all 2024 inventory. Brutal.

    Normal car recommendation….

Yeah, I've seen that before, it's a "Finance Placement Fee". Kinda dumb, as most lenders pay commission to dealers to bring them into a deal. To then turn around and charge extra to the customer *and* get a kickback from the bank is just plain greed.

Cruzing through the states! And maybe Mexico?

Which rental agency was this? I've rented from Budget/AVIS, Hertz and Enterprise in the last 12 months and have not been told by either of these companies that I was not allowed to take the rental to the US? Mexico's a whole different kettle of fish. Not only do you need Mexico-specific...

Canada only 1 week big trip suggestions?

Yep, I feel ya. After ~40 years of living in Ontario, it was nice for us to get a change of scenery. Some people can ride the same roads and see the same thing over and over again and never get bored. Me, I'm a bit different, I guess. Though it was nice this summer, coming back after almost...

Canada only 1 week big trip suggestions?

The problem with being an old-hand local traveler is that after a while, you've kind of traveled to all ends of the radius where the leash allows you to roam. So you've either go to look harder at the areas you've already been to, to uncover gems you might have missed the last few go-arounds...

Cruzing through the states! And maybe Mexico?

We lived in Colombia for six months. Rode all over the place. Didn't want to leave. Same in Mexico, spent almost a year there in total. Was just back there for a month last April, riding all over Northern Mexico. Had a great time. 🤷‍♂️

Canada only 1 week big trip suggestions?

Plane trip out of the question? The west is beautiful. Rent a bike while you're out here, lots of scenic roads. It's well worth it.

    Chromeburner is bankrupt

I don't believe Chromeburner is a Shoei retailer. At least I haven't seen anything of theirs on their site. Could be that it's not profitable enough to be selling a non-European helmet? The Arai's on CB are just a fraction cheaper than what can be found locally, after shipping+taxes factored in...

    Chromeburner is bankrupt

Euro companies like Chromeburner and FCMoto are the best for buying Euro brands. No crazy tariff/customs distributor mark-up and you get to spin the CRA roulette wheel on delivery, as to whether you need to pay duty or not. I'm about 50/50 on CRA duty. Still works out cheaper in the long run...

Cruzing through the states! And maybe Mexico?

I've ridden through many parts of the US with a "race-only" exhaust on my sportbikes. Passed by cops while doing (roughly) the legal speed limit and never a problem. I think the noise and tint violations are cherry-on-the-top tickets if you're driving/riding like a d!ck. They give the LEO the...

    Chromeburner is bankrupt

I just took a quick glance at the brands I was interested in. Same prices as before, but their stock seems unusually low. Smalls and Mediums seem to not be as readily available as XLs and XXLs... Not sure whether they are trying to clear out inventory before the new season?
