I'm thinking that this exact scenario has happened before, for some reason.

I think that the evidence would uphold a Criminal Code charge of dangerous operation, even here. The truck driver had a second or two in order to weigh what would almost certainly be a crash involving 3 vehicles, that would have a high chance of his rig jackknifing, or a controlled leaving of...

I just watched the video, in the linked report. She passed the truck in a no passing zone, with oncoming traffic.

Regarding the Williams case, that didn't fly. Nor should such an obvious attempt to thwart justice stand. Instead, it got Williams's wife dragged deeper into everything. https://macleans.ca/news/canada/ex-wife-of-serial-killer-russell-williams-loses-court-battle/

Which isn't supposed to happen if the delay is attributable to the accused but it has happened several times, in high profile cases.

It's always a numbers game and the cost for settling or losing in court is only a part of the total. Someone, somewhere, has surely done the math.

Given that there were 15 charges involving 5 incidents, and he seems to have been found guilty on all of them, 7 years is actually a bit light in my opinion. While the sentences would typically be served concurrently, as Canadian courts rarely apply consecutive sentences, each crime does...

Those advanced walk signals do trouble me. Given my walking speed they tee me up, pretty much perfectly, for a left turner to take me out.

Sure, they don't need to wait until after a finding in court, however, if they do it pretty much makes The Force/City judgment proof. Not a lot of courts are going to rule in favour of someone who has been found guilty 'beyond a reasonable doubt', in a civil suit that only requires...

More than once someone has crashed at a trackday, loaded their bike up on a pickup, and dumped it on the road. Sometimes the idiots even brag about it.

I occasionally get the same sort of response as the one from this guy, when a client spills their drink on their laptop's keyboard or tries walking away with it, while it's still plugged into power. Repeat after me: Physical. Damage. Is. Not. Covered. By. Warranty.

I threw sugar in the gas tank and then drove it, but it didn't fail when I threw the sugar in the tank. The manufacturer needs to repair it!!!!!!! Makes about as much sense. If this guy wants to be a mechanic, he better educate himself on excessive wear, topping out pistons, etc..

A variety of reasons. Storage limitations for high quality video, not wanting to risk overwriting data, possible card damage from constant recording, officer privacy... I run a two camera system, with a 256GB Micro SD card, so I can record hours and hours of video, but I occasionally have to...

Odds are that any dashcam used by police would only be active when disco lights were enabled. They wouldn't use a standard commercial cam, on a loop.

And to make it even worse BY DESIGN it completely shuts itself off, just as you really need it to do something. "Better turn off Autopilot. Don't want to be in control for the actual impact. That's liability!"

I would say that Tesla is in the clear, as it's supposed to be a driver assistance feature and not full self-driving, except for the implications of its name. Deceptive advertising = liability.

I don't think that we've had this one yet. Careless driver swerves around slowing traffic, then PITs an ambulance, with lights and sirens going. https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/no-serious-injuries-after-motorist-collides-with-ambulance-in-york-region-police-1.7057091
