Who here wears an air-bag jacket/vest as im looking for advice on buying one

Mine is the vest type worn under my REV'IT jacket where I removed the back protector but kept the shoulder and elbow pads. I only ride on the road now and don't do track days. I think I'm at the point where it would feel strange not to put the vest on for every ride.

Who here wears an air-bag jacket/vest as im looking for advice on buying one

Here's a post copied from ADVrider re: the Klim Airbag Vest. I purchased one over the winter, using it for the first few rides of this season. Because you're adding another piece of gear, it may at times seem like a hassle or inconvenient and you question whether you made the right decision...

    Michelin Road 5 tires opinions

Shane I notice that you have the GT version of the Road 5 for the rear but the standard Road 5 for the front. Could you explain or have I got it wrong?

    Michelin Road 5 tires opinions

I should have mentioned that my experience and comments were based on the GT versions of the 4's and 5's. Just so you're able to make proper comparisons but I don't think there's too much difference other than load rating and possibly a stronger sidewall.

2022 MotoGP Discussion (No Links - Contains Spoilers!)

I watched the BT Sports coverage and Neil Hodgson gave a great call on the two passes where Aleix ran wide after each pass giving the position back to Martin. He said Aleix needed to learn to lightly brake when passing on the inside of Martin, effectively performing a block pass. On the third...

    Michelin Road 5 tires opinions

I've had both the 4's and the 5's. There was a lot of cupping on the front of the 4's which I'm not experiencing as much with the 5's. There was noticeable improvement in grip in the wet with the 5's. In my mind it was just the way it was supposed to be with improvement between generations.

    BMW S1000R maintenance.

Say what you like about BMW, I've owned an 86 K100LT, F800GS, R1200GS and R1250RT. Each maintained according to BMW maintenance schedule. Never had a road breakdown. Replaced some light bulbs and that's it. Admittedly not @Lightcycle type mileage but not garage queens either. IMO BMW are design...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Yes this is very common. The last two I've owned, 2012 R1200GS and 2019 R1250RT followed that pattern. It doesn't seem to matter the quality of the bulb and replacement is awkward but doable with a few hand and finger wounds. Problem solved with the new models of both GS and RT as they are full...

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2021 Edition)

First ride of the year down to Port Hope and back. Part of it was on the 401 and I was worried that my Warm n Safe jacket was wasn't working as I kept turning up the controller and not feeling any warmer. It seems to work much better when you remember to plug it in.

    AGV vs Icon

I have an AGV K6 that I bought because of its light weight and relief for my neck. Pleased with the fit, noise level too.

Doug Ford cancels toll charges for motorists on Highway 412 and Highway 418

Parallel roads are being destroyed by huge volumes of traffic avoiding the tolls. Lakeridge Road (Durham 23) pavement is breaking up in the lower section and the cost of repairs will be on the Durham taxpayer. From a motorcycle rider perspective on that road, I've found the traffic volumes...

    IN&Motion Subscription Referral

I recently purchased a Klim airbag vest along with a subscription to IN&Motion. Yesterday I received a "Refer a Friend" email from them for up to four people. It provides for a free three month IN&Motion membership. If you're buying the Klim vest and subscription, send me a PM and I'll provide...

Time for a new lid/brain bucket

I used a Shoei Neotec and then a Schuberth C3 Pro for many years and liked them both. I never rode with them flipped up but loved the convenience when stopped and the flip down sunscreen on the Schuberth. Modulars are inherently heavier and can be hard on the neck, even more so if you're riding...

Petrucci from MotoGP to Dakar Rally!

I caught an interview with Petrucci a couple of days ago where he said something profound when asked about the difference between MotoGP and Dakar teams. To paraphrase I thought what he said was: At MotoGP your team mate is the enemy. At Dakar your team mates are your friends.

    Learning to relax

My ride mentality works in a similar way. Here's an example: I'm riding out in Northumberland County and pass a road "Tobacco Road". Next road sign is for "Stoney Lonesome Road" Hmmmm interesting. That's a cool combination of roads. Wonder who came up with those names? Who has the authority in...

    Learning to relax

For me, the ultimate solution to not being destination focussed was retirement. We spend most of our lives fixed on the fastest route between two points. Even after retirement, it can take a few months, years? to change that behaviour. I always ride alone, no tunes, no phone until I stop for a...

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2021 Edition)

I have been using crossborderpickups.ca for almost everything I buy from the US. I recently bought a waterproof liner and single controller from Warm N Safe. They shipped for free to my Niagara Falls NY address (provided by crossborderpickups.ca) and I picked up the shipment from the Markham...
