level 1 is more common.. but level 2 and full backgrounds are standard at a lot of companies.

A lot of companies do the same.. it's standard practise.

There's a lot more sketchy people making into the gig positions than Canada Post.. hands down. Some of the 'gig' carriers are good, above board companies that do background checks that are responsible for their drivers.. but a lot of them are layered in ways that intentionally keep the drivers...

The "gig" drivers.. get paid as independent contractors and are paid piece work.

The only thing they can have in mind is a bailout or similar from the government. Even if the union's expansion ideas were viable... CP would run out of money long before they could implemented.. never mind turning a profit.

IMO... Relax the mandate Allow CP some flexibility with pricing. End the door delivery.. get as many as possible on boxes. 7 day a week delivery.. without the extra costs the unions wants. The union is right to want as many full time positions as possible.. but it has to allow scheduling so...
