Personally combine 2 pieces for my gear....pair of shorter height boots plus knee & shin armour. I actually have a pair of Supertech Rs, but they can't interface with the knee armour at all, so I don't use them much.

One of my cards is the Tangerine MC....set one of my categories to Gas, so I get 2% back at all stations. Also collect Air Miles at Shell, but they never amount to much (esp given the bike's tiny tank compared to the car).

Tops cut in where and how? A lot of boots (especially non sport ones) flair out a lot at the top...I've seen some touring boots that flair enough I could stick my fist between the tongue and my shin (works well for armour, but might also help in your case too).
