From the reports I have seen it looks to have started in the Gulf of Mexico? I am no meteorologist but that seems like a lot in such a short distance...don't they usually start off the cost of Africa?

What happens to people like this?

Far too often the police say it is a civil matter and wash their hands of it, it is a common response for reno scams. Many of these scammers just rinse and repeat with no repercussions. IMO if the "contractors" had no intention of finishing the job (might be hard to prove other than pattern) or...

    Boat Rentals

Well that is part of the used boat purgatory... Millions to blow on toys, no worries about operating costs, also means no need to shop used. Buying used to save some money, well then you are usually kicked out of that first group.

    COVID and the housing market

Looks like it is a stacked and/or three story townhome complex "Yorkdale Village". Yorkdale Village Townhomes | Plans, Prices, Reviews The parking garage is also the foundation (call it a common element) and it sounds like it is a structural problem due to water issues so parking spot or not it...

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

Normal people get fired without the need for a criminal conviction, even for things outside of working hours. So lets say for example, Joe Public was accused of steeling from work. Well the company will have an investigation and if they feel they have enough evidence Joe Public gets fired...

As they were crossing Islington and he was turning onto Islington... Could be the dumbass delayed green, you know...make sure the pedestrians are in the middle of the intersection before unleashing the cars... Could also be directional greens...

    Dougie's latest plan

HOV can create an oddity. Technically it is not the "fast"/passing lane the regular far left lane is. But now MANY people driving in the left lane think they are not in the passing lane as there is a lane to their left, so they plod along. The HOV itself is not intended as a passing lane...

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

One of the main issues is they don't address the internal "misconduct" (fired, not fired...) until after the criminal court case so they get a long term paid vacation until the court case and most (that know they are guilty) will delay that for as long as they can via legal wrangling, extending...

Law Enforcement - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.....

The chief's have ability to suspend without pay now (2024) BUT going back to 2018 there was a bill put forward to also do this, Doug at the time called it “most anti-police legislation in Canadian history.”

    Dougie's latest plan

I was thinking more in reference (as an alternative) to tunnelling under the 401... 413 would be cheaper than buying the 407 but my guess it will do little for 401 congestion.

    Dougie's latest plan

How about just buying back the 407 and make it free? It HAS to be cheaper than this, it also has room for lane expansion....

    Anyone here a cyclist?

The Etobicoke Bloor lanes are the ones that have everybody raging these days... Before they existed there was near nothing in Etobicoke between Lakeshore and Eglington going east-west, that is a huge gap. There were some side streets listed as "bike friendly" but they were piecemeal as they do...

    Boat Rentals

For commercial planes the owners/operators may not want them as they are additional points of failure that need to be maintained. Not mandatory, don't expect them to maintain them (so they become useless). Mandatory, plane is out of service ($$$s) because a camera is down. Cheaper to pay...

Wired Smoke/CO Alarms That Do Not Suck? I installed eight First Alert combo hardwired smoke/CO alarms and in a couple of years half have failed. Constant fire false alarms and/or they keep beeping that the battery is bad, even with new batteries (and being hardwired shouldn't use the batteries...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Does it come with a 120v charger? Given the shortish range it is likely a daily viable charging time option and could be a "plus" (or better put enough...) for anyone that does not or cannot wire in a 240v charger?

    Air Canada strike

Add me as another to the I mostly hate Pearson/YYZ crowd. As someone that does not drive there often if I have to pick up or drop off the roads/ramps make me crazy. It make little sense IMO and with a missing terminal 2 (one of the reasons) more times than not expletives fly when if I miss a...

    Did you exercise today?

A friend of mine it was sherry that set off his gout. If he drank sherry, boom painful gout. But also any whiskey aged in sherry barrels would set it off. Now I am sure it was more than just sherry but he is a regular (in volume) whiskey and beer drinker. So maybe wine, port, brandy or something...
