Best way to get started riding track?

Presumably you've read the sticky threads in this forum section ... they're old, but the information is still good. Start with a course. All of the ones you listed are good. Which one you should start with, depends on location, budget, scheduling, hire bike availability, etc., and for that...

    Does the car you drive...

For most of my years as an engineering consultant, I drove first a 1996 VW Passat TDI and then a 2006 VW Jetta TDI. I didn't want to show up in a high-end vehicle, because that sends the message "this guy is too expensive". I didn't want to show up in a beater, either, because that sends the...

Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2024 Edition)

Went for a little rip today, but by the look of the weather forecast, that'll be it for a while.

    Car GPS

The BMW sat-nav on a hire bike in Spain refused to find the hire agency where the bike came from, then refused to recognise the street address when I looked it up with my phone, and only gave me directions when I fished latitude and longitude out of Google Maps and fed it that directly so that...

Wow. Shannonville Super Series sold off to RACE Moto

+1! Dave Grummett has been around this for decades.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Remember back when the prototype for this vehicle was first shown, that they said it could only be produced in a brake press (a fabrication-shop machine for putting straight bends into sheet metal)? Those fender and door inners sure look like conventional sheet-metal stampings.

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

It has long been like that when a construction/maintenance crew has a lane blocked. Even if they have a "yield to oncoming traffic" sign, it means nothing.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Yeah, one has to disregard some wrong explanations and just look at the way the vehicle is built (there are some details shown in this video that I hadn't seen in others - hence posting it). He has (IMO) undue concern about unplugging connectors on the 48V system. Arcing is only possible if the...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Interesting video on collision repair of a damaged cybertruck. Exterior stainless steel skin panel is glued to a stamped-mild-steel inner. (What's the point?)

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Brampton already has a bunch of New Flyer electric buses running around.

    I did a thing

Hah. In that picture from the forks, Marty's bike is the one with the metal top-box with The Yukon sticker. And that's me, in the Bridgestone/RIPP Racing T-shirt. This has to be from a few years ago.

    I did a thing

That's Marty. He's been to Alaska and back a few times. He seems to know everything there is to know about the airheads and can fix anything.

    Dunlop closing New York plant

No, CSBK switched to Bridgestone (and Ace for trackside support). Pro 6 is still a Dunlop race tire dealer.

    Honda's blown V-3

I call that feature auto-mistake, because it's wrong far more than it's correct.

    Honda's blown V-3

H2 doesn't have an intercooler, either, and the boost pressure (at higher revs) is up there. The advantage of driving it electrically is that the supercharger's boost pressure (and parasitic drag) aren't locked to engine revs. That electric motor would have to be pretty strong, though...

    Best airbags of 2024

I don't think there's such a thing as a "Canadian" box or an "EU" box - I suspect the hardware is all the same, and any distinctions are made via your account settings and software (and GPS signal - it knows where it is). Part of the set-up and registration process for In&Motion, in my case...

    Best airbags of 2024

How long ago was this? The In&Motion system was sold in Europe for a year or two before it came here, and RST retailers here (e.g. Moto World) weren't allowed to sell them. (Legal issues?) I think they are past this. Call Paul Attwood at Moto World.

    Best airbags of 2024

Yes. You can either go the subscription route, or buy it out up front. But, I opted for the subscription - because that also maintains the warranty! The gizmo connects to the internet and updates itself when plugged in; supposedly they update / refine their control logic, although there's no...

What did you do in your garage today..?

Update. All of the originally planned bike projects are done, but a couple new minor things popped up, and one expected minor job just turned into a bigger nuisance. The horn on my ZX10R has been intermittent for a while. Last week it did absolutely nothing when I pressed the button. OK, time...
