Ive found a few Municiple camp grounds in my travels. 'Seems a lot of small towns have them. Some are free or donation based. If there is a fee... It's like $20. The best one I stayed at was at Gull Lake SK. $20. With washroom/showers and free firewood.

It's also partly due to municipal neglect. In my area the city spends money on unnecessary bicycle lanes that nobody asked for rather than repairs to the road surface. My local auto repair shop guy sends his kids to university and buys yachts solely on the revenue generated by suspension work on...
