A friend bought the King 7 X 12 lathe to replace a different brand. He likes it a lot more. I also have the "other" one and if $1100 drops in my hand some day I may upgrade. Keep in mind, the $1100 is the sale price including manufacturing, shipping, reselling costs, warehousing etc. Getting...

Has the city lost it's mind...

I agree. If the parent is aware of the problem and doesn't mitigate it's their problem. Assumptions don't apply. How long is that row of dominoes? Passengers may have lost connections to other airlines and missed prepaid family events or business meetings. Cruise ships don't wait. I don't...

Has the city lost it's mind...

Based on what? Regardless, the problem is with the parents. If it's just brat behavior it can't be allowed to continue. If it's ADHD, autism, bipolar, OCD, Downs etc it's still the parents responsibility. Either the parents, who are aware of the condition, take the responsibility or they...

    River cruises

I watched a video that warned of cruise boats being rafted several abreast at key points.

On a second thought, no details were give about the kid. What if he / she had a mental condition or spectrum disorder. A knuckle sandwich may be appropriate for a brat but not downs syndrome etc. How many rare disorders can one prepare for?

It's the whole country. One brat cancels a flight. Parents should get the bill

    Canada Post - Huge losses

We need people in remote settlements or the orange man will claim them as abandoned territories. Does every village need a railway, highway, airport, post office and hospital? Communication can be done by satellites and radio. Parcels not so much. I'm sure a small airport will be cheaper than...

When I bought my mig welder I figured I'd make my own cart instead of paying Lincoln prices. Instead, I bought one from PA for less than the price of the steel. The worst part of the Chinese stuff is the wheels. They wander and stumble like a drunk. Steel is subject to volume pricing. One...

Getting bike from Algonquin area to TO - Best Option

Has Home Depot changed their policy? A friend worked there and said they only rented out to people buying HD products. Of course you could need a 2X4 delivered to Barry's Bay

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Is the 9G for the whole package or just the one bearing? Some suspension parts are best done in pairs.

The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

While Rebel News isn't my go to for facts they may have a point. (I couldn't be bothered watching the clip) Why is it that a commercial driver from one province can drive in another province that might have stricter testing or tougher conditions? I know there's the province / federal legal bit...

    Anyone into gardening here?

Thanks. When we ripped out the hedge I discovered a hidden nook that was useless for anything. I'm going to throw in an old skid and stockpile bags of soil when they come on sale. I never thought of Costco but will check them out. The one yard totes save a bit but I'd have to wheelbarrow the...

The new lawn tractors are junk.

At my rates that contract would be at $13,500 now. If mine goes I can put in an electric myself for under $1,000. Gas requires a fitter and the system is more complex with vents and purging. I spent a couple of hours yesterday cleaning around the A coil of the A/C. The drain had plugged and...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

The neighbour had a problem with his hybrid Maverick and had to take it to Ford. He had his daughter follow him because if the ICE stopped the vehicle became a large paperweight. Ford had it for weeks and had to gut the interior to fix the cable.

I've got a few inches of topsoil and then it's clay. The surface is a mixed bag of bumps and depressions. One spot is developing a sink hole where a tree stump is slowly decaying. I'm told it's a job for the spring. I'll roll and then aerate. It might take a few years.

The new lawn tractors are junk.

Interesting as I bought out my Enercare tank last year. At $45 a month it pays for itself next May. The price was nuts but if Enercare was putting in quality units the existing tank might last long enough to make the switch even more profitable.

Good point. There's always a market for good used stuff. Used junk is a liability.

Leveling a lawn, how do you do it? If it gets any worse I might need an off road mower.
