Where do you guys go for new tires?

You are 100% right about that. In addition to that, modern sport touring tires have gotten stiffer than they used to be, which is good for longevity, but bad for you if you're trying to spoon them on. I used to mount my own (using the zip tie method), and eventually got my technique good enough...

    Middleweight suzuki sport tourers

Yup. I though the GSX-8TT would be a smaller version of the GSX-S1000GT but it's a retro bike. It does look good https://suzukicycles.com/street/2026/gsx-8tt

What's the one thing you always forget or wish you'd brought on long trip on 2 wheels?

Extra bike key in my inside jacket pocket. Never needed it yet but I figure it's not that unlikely that I lose my key.

    GPS vs Phone

I have the cheapest Garmin Zumo 396-LMT-S which I used to hate using because of how hard it was to program a route into it, but I've discovered a new method that works very well: I use my phone to create a route on onthegomap.com then save it as a gpx file. It's the easiest and fastest way I've...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

I didn't read the whole article, but: That's fine for someone using it for commuting, but I'd bet the typical adventure bike spends most of its life on highways and back roads where speeds are higher and stops are infrequent. How are you gonna take a bike like this across the trans-Canada or...

    Career change

Yeah if you can find one, but people probably aren't gonna be selling theirs if it's in a location that makes good profit.

    Career change

How about running a storage locker business? I've always wondered about those businesses. They seem like they'd be easy to run and wouldn't take too much of your time. Does anyone know more about how to get started? I guess you'd need a decent sized property just outside of town but not too far...

    Ride Japan anyone?

I heard english knowledge in japan is much lower than in most other countries. It would be hard getting by, buying food, booking accommodation, etc. Might be better to do it with a tour group.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

I'm not a fan of the look but you gotta give them props for daring to be different. I'm tired of almost every SUV/CUV looking the same.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

They need to make a lot more L2 chargers and put them everywhere. I can think of only 2 hotels I stayed at since I got my EV where they had chargers I could use overnight. The vast majority of them don't. Why not? Putting chargers at hotels seems like an obvious early step to ease the transition...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

How does it work on motorcycles with auto cruise (eg multistrada), can you choose dumb cruise if that's what you prefer? edit: after some googling it appears the adaptive element of cruise cannot be disabled on a multistrada

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

In an attempt to reduce costs, a few years ago Tesla decided to rely solely on cameras instead of other systems (radar, lidar, whatever) on their cars. This is one of the biggest pet peaves of Tesla owners. My own Tesla has this problem. For example, for the auto-wipers function, it uses a...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

It's probably the tow rating. It needs to be able to tow a lot to be considered a serious truck. I think if they build a car in a class where people aren't normally concerned with tow ability (eg sedan, smaller SUV) then they should be able to get away with a much smaller generator.

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

I think the Chinese manufacturers are getting PHEVs right. Many of their PHEVs have electric ranges over 100 kms, while not a single PHEV with 100 kms range is available here yet (the coming Ramcharger will be the first). I think if one was available, I'd rather have a PHEV with an all-electric...

Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

I'm a big fan of the 2022+ Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Over 60 kms of electric range. Also lets the driver choose whether you want all-electric mode or to use the gas engine. Lots of nifty features like a 3rd row seat which folds into the floor.

Used ones seem to hold their value really well though. I'm looking for a 2nd bike for 2-up touring duty as my girlfriend says my bike is too uncomfortable for anything longer than half an hour. sellers are asking $6000 for 2005 models, and anything newer than 10 years old is over $10,000.
