never owned German car before. ( bike yes), but never a car, and so the experience begins.....

best source of German parts online (specifically M-B) ? needless to say dealer pricea are ridiculous.

do third party sellers sell authentic parts at better prices?
 
MB dealers don't like to fix parts...it's just replace for $$$$$
There is a guy down Southdown Road near HWY 2 who knows his MB stuff. No idea if still there.
In the light industry area near the GO.

Have no experience with Mercedes since they scared me away decades ago. But the same places I get my BMW/VW parts also carry MB, and they list which are the OE, OEM and original so even if you don't paln on ordering from them, you can still understand which alternatives are quality if you can get them locally:

Check out their lifetime warranty policy on almost everything they sell, including engine oil and oil filters, but /i would trust FCP more than ECS based on some online feedback about ECS customer service.

FCP if you live in the states is magical. Everything is MSRP but buy oil and filter or brakes once and every future change just costs you return shipping. From canada, the insane return shipping breaks the magic. Some people use them for cars that eat turbos so you can buy once, cry once.

ECS has fb groups about how much they suck. I'd only order from there if I didn't have other options.

fcp seems pretty cool.

funny how when I click on the M-B link, its mainly the airmatic (suspension) stuff.

apparently a common failure on these cars, not looking forward to replacement costs (hoping its just the valve box that feeds the air shocks)

What car did you get?

I used to use GermanAutoParts.com and they were good. Sadly they went bankrupt years ago. It looks like they may be revived but I've never used the new iteration.

"inherited" a 2011 E550 w/AMG sport package, has 28k on the clock, always garaged, never winter driven. only taken out on nice days

despite my fierce japanese (Honda) roots, I couldn't say no.

I have FCP ship to my US address and could return from within the US while picking up, but haven't had to yet.
 
I use FCP for critical stuff like timing components, but mostly RockAuto with part numbers from dealer catalogues or websites and known good manufacturers. Beware, though: a brand name with letters covered in diacritics is not necessarily German.
 
In FCP and ECS terms, I buy "OE" whenever available - the exact same part as "Genuine" made in the same factory by the same third party, just without the vehicle brand added. Careful with "OEM" - that means they're contracted to make something else for your car, but also make these other parts.

With my Acura and Subaru, I'm stuck with dealership pricing if I want original quality. The only exceptions I've found are Akebono and Aisin. All other brands are of a noticeably lesser quality - Dorman, Moog, AC Delco, Delphi, etc.
