2026 Triumph Trident 800 launched

Personally I love naked bikes, as the last 20 years of my riding will attest (tuono 1000r for 16 years, now 3 with my Super Duke).

But, FFS people, we need naked bikes with a similar engine package that comfortably ride two-up. There's plenty of highly-sporty naked bikes now but ones with truly usable passenger accommodations seem to be rare outside cruisers.

A bit of overlap between the street triple and trident but, more choice is better. I prefer the traditional round headlamp over the bug eyes and I know they are much different in ride experience.

The colours and profile looks great. And if you want something more practical, there is always the tiger. I just haven’t converted to the street version of ADV style machines yet. Maybe in another 10 years, I’ll jump on the band wagon when it’s out of fashion like everything else I do.

The front half looks nice.

I don't care for the jacked-up, spartan arse end. You couldn't even strap down a sandwich on that "passenger" seat, let alone seat an adult human behind.

thats why people buy adv/crossover bikes, maybe its just too much of an engineering challenge to make a sporty bike thats also capable of 2 up touring?

This is a case of needing two bikes. Having something like this and having something else to bring the squeeze. Or have the squeeze ride her own.

Mine will never ride her own but enjoys being pillion. Maybe not for a trip to the tail of the dragon or Cabot Trail but, a burger night run.

Triumph is on a roll, no doubt. That bike is almost over lapping other models though. If they are using the iconic Trident name they should put that engine, suspension, brakes etc. into a `73 to `75 actual looking Trident. Real seating for a passenger, old style fenders, three into two exhaust, and a centerstand, real ability for attaching bungee cords is good too...I`d seriously buy one. The sound of those Tridents and BSA Rocket 3`s was intoxicating. Speaking of Rocket 3`s, why did Triumph pinch that name to use on that gigantic fugly pig in their current lineup.....blasphemy!! OK, rant over, I was there for the Trident and Beezer Rocket 3 long ago, owned two Tridents.

They need to get unto the small bike segment. Imagine with me if you will:
<500cc triple engine
Good frame
Good swingarm
Usd forks with radial mount single caliper to minimize rotational mass.
Decent enough electronics package (optional quickshifter/blipper prewired)

Budget everything else (that street riding doesn't need to be exceptional, and track/race riders change anyway)

Priced in the 400 -> 4rr range.

And not ugly like the current blasphemously named Daytona 660..
