We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

Not just getting CDNs to comply . The costs have spiralled out of control ( again shock) . There is still some stink from the “long gun registry “ , gun violence has NOT gone down. Businesses have lost hundreds of thousands holding un saleable inventory with no clear plan how to move forward. It’s not a good look .

I may switch one range membership for a membership of a more local clay sports club. My semi auto Beretta is a compromise for this but will work. What is a budget price decent clay specific gun though? Is there a good used model that would work well if I can get my hands on one? Not looking to spend a lot and it doesn’t have to be top tier. Just not something that will fall to pieces after a few shots.

IMO , if you’re shooting sporting clays , the semi auto is nice and works fine . If your going skeet or trap , probably what you’ll see are over/unders in ninety percent of shooters hands . You’ll get a bazillion opinions , but don’t buy a Steven’s or a Yildez or Canuk. I’d buy a beretta six eighty six or browning five two five or seven two five . I think we’ve discussed before you want a gun that shoots thousands of rounds before service . Don’t try and use a field gun for clays , too light and punishing .

This is good...
'Seems federal public safety minister and Tamil tiger enthusiast Gary got caught not lying for once...

Buyback amounts are out. I saw a list earlier but can't find it now.
same as before or different? There were prices before but they were well below fair market value or msrp. Chipmunk also says the fund is capped to limit the expense. So if you don't live on the east coast and rush your guns to the authorities to get your cheque, you'll probably just be made a criminal with no compensation. Then the libs can argue that they are only taking guns from criminals as they made every law-abiding gun owner in the country a criminal with bad policy.

EDIT:
As expected (or directed?), the media is reporting this an an "Assault weapons buyback". These are not assault weapons and this is not a buyback as the government never owned them. So one out of three words in the headline are applicable. That's about par for the course with our useless government funded media.

These seemed to be market value.

Our range sent the list out so I'm guessing it's recent.

Here's an official price list. They don't bother to date it though so I have no idea if it is todays list.

That's the one. More detailed than before.

$240 for a 40mm grenade launcher seems a bit low. I'll keep the 15 I have at that price.

MP explicitly stated that if you don't turn them in, you will be a criminal. Sounds voluntary to me. /all the sarcasm in the entire world.

You and every PS in Ontario, the police were instructed to remove all data pertaining to the long gun registry. Something that they all disregarded.

It's waaaay out of whack...
There's one firearm on the list I have that retailed 3 years ago for $1400. They're offering $670
There's another that retailed for$700... They're offering $1200.
One of my ARs cost me over $3000... It's not even really on their list as it was a custom built rifle... I'm guessing it would qualify for their $600 offer.

If the day comes... All they're getting from me will be stripped receivers.

But... The day may never come. This debacle isn't over

Hypothetically if I actually had any firearms on that list I'd make more than my investments.

The "data" is so stale and inaccurate as to render it useless.
They'd have to apply for and execute thousands of search warrants "if" they really wanted to confirm the presence of newly prohibited firearms.
Registered, previously restricted now prohibited firearms... well.. They know where those are and who has 'em.

Here's the thing though... Many gun owners are hung up on the money aspect... "How much will I get?" without considering the real issue.

The government is confiscating private property under a false premise.

It's not about "public safety" and as far as most of us are concerned, they can shove their compensation up their collective a**.

Reminds me of the guy who sold me my first GSX-R750 back in the day. He sold it to finance a GSX-R7/11 build and we kept in touch. It was going to be a great project until he got a call that someone was coming to repossess it due to an unpaid lien that wasn't disclosed. The repo man arrived expecting to load the bike onto a trailer but was greeted to a bare frame.

The stale data is mostly used to flag a address for potential hazard when they are dispatched to it.

I get that. But there's another side. Hypothetically one of the firearms on that list is a bit of a dog when it comes to accuracy so I wouldn't have used it much and probably, if I owned it, would maybe have sold it anyway. I'm more into accurate firearms these days.

Well that's the thing...
"Legally", the firearm is the frame/receiver. EVERYTHING else is just "parts". Unregulated parts.
The liberals are dumb, but not stupid... 'Last big OIC they made AR upper receivers* "prohibited devices". Previously upper receivers were just parts too, but now... illegal to possess.
They prohibited uppers to prevent people from being able to perhaps mate them to after marked lower receivers that are compatible.
Of course there's no way to know who has 'em cuz they were never registered.
