Kawi 500cc Hybrid

I went in knowing I don't like this guy's format but I still gave up at the halfway mark. I can't tell if he's using a script that is supposed to make him look like a moron, or if he is actually winging the entire video. @adri could make a video 500% better

What do I need a Hybrid for when I get 4.6L / 100 km with my 1200 cc bike.

I do not need the complexity, but it is good for those who want to jump on the band wagon.

Thanks @TwistedKestrel , means a lot, I sent a screen shot to the missus like:

...I mean, it's either that, or Shawn's video is just that bad... Guess I better watch it and find out haha.

Seriously though, I think Shawn tries to make videos for dumb people who just want mindless motorcycle entertainment, and he gets tens of millions of views for it.

I try to make videos for smart people who might want to learn or at least get a fresh perspective on something motorcycle related, and get tens of views for it

Truth be told I've talked to Shawn on the phone a few times, good guy, very encouraging, generous with his time. On YouTube I think he's smart enough to play dumb, whereas I'm dumb enough to play smart. Guess which video performs better?

Someone once told me, don't make videos for Mr. Spock. For every one Mr. Spock out there who wants rational, deliberate, concise, informative content, there are 10,000 Homer Simpsons. If you want views, make content for Homer Simpson.

Kawasaki is offering a 5 Grand cash credit on those if you take their financing. Maybe a bit before their time or they just want to unload a turd no one wants.
Reports are that they're selling like moldy bread. They've been sitting on showroom floors too long and keeping inventory that doesn't move is money the dealership can't do anything with.

While I understand testing new ideas/concepts...
This does not seem like a product for the north American rider.

Just a bunch more of things to go wrong that you will never be able to fix on your own!
Maybe this is deliberate.
Dealers don't make much money on new motorcycle sales
and selling clothing and accessories at 100 percent profit is a thing of the past.
The service department will become the king of profit.

Pretty much always has been, though some shop managers don't recognize that fact.

Not certain about other brands, but H-D Financial offers rates at 12.19% to 13.19% over 96 months, depending on your credit score and purchase of the extended service plan. They have $5B in loans out there now,...WT ever loving F ? That could give service departments a go for the money.

True enough. Those wonderful 7 and 8 year loans are a cash cow. I once had the sales manager at Cycle World dick me around over a loan, the day that I was supposed to pick up a new bike, saying that the loan hadn't yet been approved. In a month. I tossed two credit cards on the desk and said, "Pick one." Funny how fast things got sorted after that.

Please imagine any names you can call someone and apply them to Norm Rossler.

They just sold a large portion of that money making business to pay off debt from building motorcycles!

What litre bike gets 4.6l/100km?

Given that street vehicles use high power for a small percentage of time and low power most of the time, it should be possible to make a hybrid lighter and more fun. Instead of a 1200, put in 400-600 and use hybrid to bring the torque and power above the 1200 baseline (instant torque from electric will destroy ice with similar peak numbers). Obviously added cost and complexity though.

Ultimate sleeper bike if done correctly.
Interesting the 500 hybrid at 377 lb is lighter than my 2014 CB500F.
This number seems wrong ...- the Z7 is 500lb. vs 424 for my CB500F

More comprehensive review

May need some further development, smaller lighter battery and maybe a smaller engine tho 500 seems a point and should fall into the LAMs category. I like the idea of an EV "go fast" button.

Yup. Electric will get you to the speed limit faster than you can blink. It just won't necessarily give speed addicts that top speed that they crave. It's a great idea for Montreal/Toronto/Vancouver where you spend a lot of time in stop and go traffic. unless you're breaking the law everywhere that you go. When you're not moving, it's not running.

I know the name, don`t recall which CW I saw him. East, West or the shorter lived North store, N side of Steeles, just W of Yonge.

He was at West. After they closed he moved to Kahuna. I inquired about a bike that they had for sale, that I was really interested in and he was the one who responded, so I dropped it. I later got a response from the manager and told him if Rossler was involved, I wasn't interested. The manager ended up handling everything, instead, to make the sale.
