Yeah well we live in a world of Me, Me, Me and proof is we have sites like Facebook and others like it.

Then of course you have people suffering from FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) that live on their mobile phone (instead of concentrating on their driving). It must be terrible feeling so lonely.

Or the guy with his new Lamborghini driving back and forth at 30 clicks in bumper to bumper traffic on a boulevard to be "seen" (I walked the boulevard and saw it). Yup, that Me, Me, Me syndrome. Jeez, I'm on a backroad with my sports car having as much fun as I can legally.

So I was told by a friend. Checked luggage and even a second carry-on.

Maybe we should weigh people as well and base fares on that. A 250 pound fat fu*k with their 23 kg (50#) checked luggage can get on a flight but a 180 pound person with checked luggage that is 5 pounds over weight has to pay extra. Go figure.

Out of interest, why did you say you couldn't push start it? I've had to do that twice, and you really only need maybe 20 feet max (so long as it is 'safe' if the bike somehow gets away from you).

CAA boosted my bike, twice. I left my lights on while taking a break to watch a moose on DeepLake rd, they came inside 20Min from linden and boosted me.

Another time I was by myself at my SILs cottage near Kaladar… same.

I don’t recall if I was asked what type of vehicle I had.

Never used them for a bike but with cars, they want to know make, model year and color

Oh my cottage is near kaladar...which lake?
 
I have booster cables + a Ridgid air compressor that works off of one of their 18V batteries or a 12V cigarette plug. $50 on sale.

Make sure you test your compressor to ensure it actually works, that the 12V power cord reaches all 4 tires and the chuck / tire valve connection works properly.

Skootamata. I used to have a camp near the southern dam, 1590’ of shore was $25k in 1980 when we parted with it.

We then went to Sharbot lake a bit further east.

Take a look at the gears if possible. Cheap nylon castings can shrink and pull themselves apart over the years. Even some plastics need annealing.

This crack kept the little gear from turning the big one

I have one of those NOCO booster packs and I leave it in the car. I have bailed out many, many people with it.

It is much cleaner than using jumper cables (but I also carry them), I have only had one case where it couldn't get the job done (a friend left his interior light on for a month when he went on vacation..., so I had to break out the cables). I even used it to jump a friends Nissan Leaf (12v battery was just about done).

According to the guy trying to sell me one, the boosters can't be used without a battery. However he said there was a trick to fool the unit into thinking there was a battery. The month dead battery would be like boosting a brick.

Yeah, there's usually a special button or sequence to force it on when it detects too low (or no) voltage. I've started cars with no batteries with mine.

I wouldn't do the same on this forum due to personality clashes. However I would be available to some members if there was a procedure not unlike Facebook friending. Arrogant members wouldn't get my personal contact info but ones that had a history of helpful posts would. I'm not sure how that would be set up if even possible.

Karma does work but it's a slow process.

We should have a sticky for people willing to help other riders, and maybe which areas they're willing to "service". I wouldn't post my number publicly, but I'd be willing to share it with GTAM'ers I trust who might frequent it more than I. Then again, I know one active member tows bikes for a very reasonable fee, and since there's no more Vendor area (that I can find), maybe they can also be included in the sticky as a commercial option with direct contact, alongside the list of GTAM volunteer names?
