Hi everyone!
I'm an "old man". I wanted to be comfortable on a motorcycle before I'm 50. I guess I did it? I got my M1 three weeks ago, did the RTI training a week after that, was looking for and got a bike and insurance and I've been riding for something like 3 days now! I was a bit anxious that I won't be comfortable but the RTI training really helped. I still have respect and go slow and learn, but I have to say that I feel like I'm ok riding my bike around town without feeling out of control.
The one thing that kept me from having a bike for all those years is that I'm not into the noise, the smell, the heat, the vibrations, the grease. I want none of that, I just want to go and enjoy myself. And though I can drive stick I also don't mind not having to clutch and shift. So the bike I got is a 2022 Zero SR/S. I was actually looking at a 2020 Zero SR, but the dealer had this one for almost the same price and so I changed my mind.
I love this bike. I have it set on ECO mode and I won't change that until I get my M2. I have to say in eco mode it's a sweetheart. It never feels too strong, brutal or out of control but it always has the oomph to take off. I don't have anything to compare it to, but if your ICE bikes are anything like this... I get it. It's fun.
Ask me anything about starting on an EV bike. Finding an insurance was not easy, you can't get an offer if you don't have a CC number. The dealer helped with that and I got an ok rate. The RTI instructor warned me that doing the M2 test on an EV bike might not be possible for the same reason unless the DMV can get their stuff straight by then. That's 3-5 years away for me.
I still need a pair of boots, is there a store in North York where I can try some on? I only know triple clamp moto, they did not have anything in my size though.
Cheers!
