Why? Other than the cost, I don't see downsides and there are a lot of up sides. I like being alive and ideally not smashed.
Curious as well I wear mine every time non obtrusive and have personally witnessed a few crashes the rider would have survived if they had been wearing one.

Been using mine for 2 years since it came out. I started looking into them (and switching back to leather from textile) after my first street crash since I started riding in the 80's. I've broken bones on the race track, no big deal, but my bones probably don't heal as well as they used to when I was younger, and when I thought about all the things that went just right during that latest crash, I felt really lucky to be alive. Or at least not to have to go to an American hospital and be laid out for any amount of time..

You're correct it is mentioned in the manual but the manual is in the box so you don't read it until after the purchase and the reason (magnetic effects on pacemakers/defibrillators) is not mentioned in the manual. Here's the scenario:
You read the online description which makes no mention of it and do your pre-purchase research as much as possible. You register and use the product three times before, quite by chance, you discover it is a big issue for you.
