Who's still riding? Fall & Winter 2022 (& 2023!) edition!

It was like spring out there today. Pitstop in Port Perry. Lots of bikes out!

Glad you have come to the light and learned the joys of winter riding this year lol

I rode to the bank, Studio Cycle, and the post office yesterday. I probably spent more time digging out my cargo net than I would have spent just walking there, but walking is for animals so it was time well spent.

Was out shortly yesterday. Now I'm debating a ride to FOC...

No idea what you are talking about. I ride when it 5+ out, doesn't matter what time of the year that is. Been doing that since I started.

He means; If you aren't riding in a blizzard you don't love riding.

Nah. No such thing as blizzards in Toronto. We haven't even started the snowblower since last winter. Just saying plenty of good riding to be done below 5 C all winter long. Hopefully this nice warm snap will make people rethink their mental blocks and enjoy being on two wheels more.

So, in typical Murphy's Law fashion that I am so famous for, after literally 2 or 3 months with something like 5 sunny days, we jet off to a little tropical island paradise, and not only is it sunny and beautiful all week back home I hear, but I miss literally 1 or 2 incredible warm riding days given the time of year. And I've got my new bike in the garage that I would have literally put 500+km on on Friday had I been home.

Not only that, but we arrived on Saturday on the island and Monday and Tuesday a huge storm went through that not only churned up the seas (so a lot of beach time we'd planned was scratched, as was a lot of touristy stuff), but also forced a rescheduling and relocation of the wedding we were there for to begin with, which I felt bad for the couple as they'd had some amazing plans originally. It was basically Thursday afternoon into Friday before the weather improved again, and we left yesterday.

This was the view on our villa porch on Tuesday or something. The power was out and didn't come back on until basically as we were heading to bed.

And now I'm home, and it's cloudy and cold again.

When it comes to the weather, I swear, if it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.

F!ck it, I'm going for a ride today anyways. :/

I went for a little ride today. Not far, just about 300km. (Started late, wanted to be home long before Superbowl)

I just rode in to work wearing the general layers and gear expecting it to be -2/-3. It was not a fun ride. Realized it was -7 🫠 Next 10 days look to be up and down in temps. One good thing is I don't have to worry about "night-blindness" drivers on the roads in the evenings now. I'll invest in winter riding gloves for the next season.

How's everyone (not holidaying in the US or the tropics) faring?

I got givi muffs for handlebars. Makes a world of difference.

Yea. I'll shop around for those that fit my handle bar. There was one recommended earlier.

I rode my bicycle this morning for an hour and I was glad I had the battery powered socks on. I grew icicles on my facial hair and back of my helmet. Going downhill was not a pleasure as usual. Lucky there wasn’t any wind.
I have the Tusk wind blockers on my bicycle they do a good job but with thick gloves they make getting at the brake and gear changer a bit challenging.
