I made a very similar tool that I have zip tied to my racks. I simply cut off one of the tubular aluminum adjustable height legs off of a discarded handicap shower chair and made a plug for the cut end.

Indeed the owner is a real nice guy. He let 5 of us camp there one night. After crinkling around all night in my thin sleeping bag and emergency foil blanket trying to stay warm we woke up to frost on the ground.
