^^^this. I have ridden my 05 650 out to Kelowna and down to Florida. It is my current commuter. Pretty much bulletproof they are.

I would say newbie in front, one they can be observed for coaching etc., bike to bike comms would help here... secondly, if the newb is following they will not develop the ‘scanning’ needed for surviving traffic as they would most likely watch the leading bike mostly. Just my opinion.

You can get 90 degree valve extensions that will not required screwing with the tire itself. Never used them myself, been thinking about it however...
