For many years I would put the bike away for the winter with about a half tank of Shell Premium. I then added the amount of stabilizer suggested on the label for 3.5 litres.
As I have no access to electric where I park the bike, I take it outdoors and run it at about 1000 rpm for 15 minutes...
A lot of people feel that the price they are asking should reflect the fun times they had riding and that the new owner should pay for the good times they had on the bike which they are now giving up. This is the mental approach they take and are surprised when it's been online for two weeks...
One thing I have discovered about motorcycle oil over the years is that every rider has his or her own opinion.
Synthetic vs dino, high viscosity vs. low.
You have let the genie out of the bottle.
There is another road (I forget the name) that will take you to the lovely town of Kirk's Ferry in the Gatineau hills.
On your way to Ottawa take the 401 to Kingston and take the Perth Rd. to Perth and take Hwy. 7 to Ottawa. Lots of nice twisty sections.
Hwy. 15 from Kingston via Smiths Falls...
This was a problem when BMW introduced the K75 and K100.
The clutch lever also retracted the side stand.
These bikes would only start in neural but riders who had learned to ride on other bikes still pulled in the clutch to start with the side stand down and contacting the ground.
Some were...
Over the years I have seen many motorcycles parked on the street for long periods (abandoned).
I recognised one of them and approached the owner. He informed me the engine was shot and it would cost more than the bike was worth to repair it.
He removed the plate as he didn't want parking tags...
Chrome is not that difficult to maintain. When I figure it isn't going to snow any more this winter, but it's still too cold to ride, it's time for the chrome work.
Clean the chrome thoroughly with a mild soap, Don't forget the parts under the body even though they may not show.
Rinse well...
What's it worth?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's worth what you can get for it.
If you can find the right buyer who is looking for this exact motorcycle you may get $1500 to $2000.
But finding that buyer.
On the other hand you will probably wind up with much less.
Re: So Three Ontario Cops Walk Into A Courtroom...
For a start, Toronto Police have a couple of Tahoes, but to the best of my knowledge none are unmarked.
These are specialty vehicles which are assigned to special units.
There would be no point in their being unmarked.
If you trace the story...
South from Winnipeg, then I-29.
South on I-29 to Grand Forks ND
US 2 from Grand Forks to Mackinaw.
I-75 from Mackinaw across the bridge to I-75.
I-75 south, cross at Pt. Huron/Sarnia.
I would plan on 3 days as there is a lot of wildlife on the roads after dark.
I think the closest you may find to downtown is the shop opposite Harbord St. on Ossington.
The sign out front says they do motorcycle repairs.
I have driven by but I've never been in so this is not a recommendation just passing on info.
A lot of people add things to their motorcycles because THEY like them.
They don't add any value to the bike unless you can find a buyer with the exact same taste.
There was a story awhile back about a seller's bike having every bell and whistle you can think of.
A potential buyer asked How much...
