Usually travel a month at a time in US. First thing I do when I cross the border is find a Walmart and purchase a 'Pay as you go phone' and minutes. Costs around $60 much cheaper than trying to buy a roaming plan form one of our Canadian Ripoff companies.

If you get caught bringing in something illegal or not declared and it's only minor then it stays on your record (i.e. Passport) for the next three years. This includes Air and Road travel in the U.S.
