    First REAL motorcylce touring trip

Stock isn't great, but it's manageable. Did Key West and back on a stock SV650 seat last year.

NeverWet Rustoleum Super Hydrophobic Coating Spray

Assuming it's not toxic, this thing has unbelievable potential. -If it's even remotely durable it's a lot more cost effective than those $300 rust treatments for the underside of your car. -Every piece of electronics manufactured should be sprayed with it. Even in a flood your stuff would be...

    Scarey/freaky road story....

Wow, when I first read the original post I was tempted to as if maybe you fell asleep during an action movie and had a really vivid dream. Glad to hear you're alright! (but sad to hear you didn't have a GoPRO on)

    New helmet design: very cool

+1, could definitely use less wind noise on day long rides. As for the fears about the hinge failing, unless these guys are really poor engineers it should not be that hard to design against failure. If you think about the most of the stresses on a helmet in a crash, they're impact stresses...

Is There Any Bike Out There That Can Give You 400+ km's On Tank Of Gas?

Agreed, had a buddy with me when I broke 400km a tank on the BRP and he was on a 2012 GSXR-600. He went an extra 15-20km after me until his light went on, so it's definitely doable with the right environment and riding style.

Is There Any Bike Out There That Can Give You 400+ km's On Tank Of Gas?

I've got an SV650s 2nd gen and have gotten 300km before my fuel light started flashing (a little under 1/3 of the tank left) so yes it does get above 400, but that was on the BRP which has no stops. When stuck in downtown traffic stopping every 10m, I've gotten as low as 160km before the light...

You may have already sorted this out by now but Viper84737 does bike towing for good prices. PM him.

    Guys with shoei helmets

If you ride a modern sport or supersport, your trunk has hooks in it specifically for this. You slide on the short side of your strap (with the metal end), lock the trunk and your helmet's safe. The only way to steal it is to cut the strap, which wrecks the helmet and makes stealing pointless...

Picking up and talking to chicks on bicycles and scooters downtown.

Had a friend once say that having a bike was like having a "cheat code" to life that instantly bumps up your coolness level a few notches. It implies a lot of things about you are attractive to women. You're not afraid of taking some risks in life, you can take care of yourself well enough to...

Muskoka 13 road was not kind today

Glad to hear you're ok and that the gear worked as it should. Did a 1200km loop towards Calabogie a few weekends back and there was gravel all over those Northern roads. I'm sure you're not the first this season and won't be the last. Love the duct tape job! One of the less heralded benefits...

    Anyone ride a Hyosung GT250?

Fixed it for ya :) Had one for my first bike and the size/weight is definitely closer to a full size 600 than a 250, which for me was a plus. I had several people stop me to say it was a great looking bike. Put about 6k kms on it in my first year, bought it for $2,500 second hand at the end of...

    sliding in the rain?

+1 to pretty much all the tips above (Easy inputs, avoid painted sections/metal/anything where water is beading off) Basically ride your bike as if it had 1/3 of the traction it normally does... Because that's not too far from true. If wet handling is still bugging you and depending on the...

Tank slapper - again... getting pretty ****** off now..

Definitely needs to be troubleshooted, but since the only way to test whether you guessed right is to give it WOT again, I'd seriously consider installing a steering damper. Even if you're just borrowing one off a friend's bike, you're just asking for a crash to keep repeatedly pushing the bike...

    Gas mileage problem.

+1 on this. I've gotten endurance ranging from about 160km/tank in stop-and-go city driving all way 330km/tank on the BRP (to first low fuel light). Same bike, same gas, same air filter. As others have said, check your air filter is clean, maybe throw in some injector cleaner and/or seafoam to...
