I'm leaving from Pittsburgh (on assignment here) Friday morning and hoping to catch practice late Friday afternoon. Anyone in Pittsburgh or Columbus need a pickup ;)
On a more serious note; has anyone ever been to Meridian street Friday/Saturday night of the race. I heard it's a pretty awesome...
Something else to consider: SV650. It's a nice bike that bridges the 250s and the 600SS. Might be cheaper on insurance depending on the provider (not State Farm, they go by CCs) and a lot cheaper for the 'gift provider' (I'm assuming that you're looking at a new or new-ish bike).
Time: 6:30-6:45
Place: Lakeshore and Fort York-ish
Me: Red/Grey Honda CBR600RR eastbound
You: Westbound, red helmet with no visor (and a beard...props to all the bearded peeps!). Riding an orange bike that looked like a Speed/Street Triple with a fly screen. Cool looking bike; wonder what it was....
Just to add to this, State Farm adjusted mine automatically. My bday is in January so I wasn't really looking at the statements with much attention in the winter but I noticed that in February it dropped as promised to me by my agent when I signed the initial policy.
Holy crap!! Isn't that like ~30% of the cost of the bike? If you've had your G for 5 years that makes you approximately 23 y.o right? I'm not here to tell you how to spend your money obviously (and maybe this amount is not a huge deal for you), but perhaps it might be worthwhile to ride...
@woobie: good point. I'll check on that.
At what point would you say a tire is "too old" to be ridden anymore? It had lots of thread left and tires weren't squared off.
Just writing to report what my solution was for others in the future:
I will be using the solution DJM recommended with the temporary plate sticker from the MTO. I will be picking up the paperwork from the owner, getting it registered and then driving it to a garage for the safety inspection...
For those who ride on the Lakeshore, perhaps it's time to reconsider the route. It doesn't sound like these are huge pieces falling (not like Autoroute Ville Marie in Montreal) but likely big enough to seriously insure or kill a motorcyclist...
Yep, it seems to run fine. Got the owner to start it up and take it around the block a few times. He didn't want to let me ride it (logical) but nothing looked out of place. It's an '07 with only 5000KM on it so it's a fairly new bike.
Gents,
Thanks for the advice. The temporary trip permit from the MTO should do the trick (assuming my insurance will cover me before I take ownership). I was trying to avoid trailering it.
@Sabex: Who or what is Rosey Toes? I presume some nice mechanic.
Hi GTAM peeps,
I apologize for the vague title, my dilemma is too long for a thread title. So here's my current issue which I hope your collective wisdom can solve. I just put a down payment on a used bike today. The bike had been in storage for 1.5 years and the current owner has...
Gents,
I'm planning on attending the Suzuki demo day this weekend. I really want to try the GSX-R 600. Does anyone think that they won't let me have it a go since I only have my M2? This is my 2nd summer riding.
