Got my M1 in May, completed my training course this past weekend, won't be able to officially get my M2 until end of August. AllState, Riders Plus, Mitchell & Whale, Dalton Timmis, Intact, Desjardins, Johnson, and The Personal were able to quote me as if I already had my M2.

Yeah I found it weird too, but it's okay because I was planning on getting the 500 anyway. I'm waiting on my work HR to get back to me to see if I can get a different quote, but so far I'm leaning towards Johnson since it was such a great rate, and for full coverage too. What's the difference...

I called TD who told me that for new riders I had to submit a written application, which could take up to 6-8 weeks lol - however, I just got off the phone with Johnson (I have an alumni discount with them) and they gave me the best rate so far at $1,311 for both the Rebel 500 and 300. HUGE...

I reached out to my work's HR and asked them if we have group insurance. Hopefully I'll hear back from them tomorrow morning! I'll look into TD. Good to know about acting like I already have my M2. Makes total sense, thanks!

A friend of mine is helping me out with the helmet department and I actually just bought a jacket and an armoured shirt to go with it! Thanks for the offer though :) Maybe once I finish my Learning Curves course we can get around to riding!

Thanks for the additional context. This is super helpful and informative when I'm ready to start seriously shopping for a bike. Insurance seems to be top priority now, however. Gonna have to make some calls and get a rough idea of how much I'll be spending!

I'll have to look out for ABS bikes, then! Only issue I'm having right now is that most, if not all of the used bikes available in my area are either older, like 10+ years or so, or they just don't have ABS as an option. It's looking more like the only way I can get an ABS bike is if I buy one...

Thanks for the tips! A lot of people have been recommending the Rebel, the V-Star, and the Vulcan as good beginner bikes so I guess that's a starting point for both insurance and bike shopping. A few people have recommended FortNine so I will give them a look.

Thanks for the advice! I just got back from DriveTest and apparently all I needed was my driver's license. Passed in 10 minutes! Super stoked to finally get the ball rolling. Guess the next step is to book a weekend with Learning Curves and start shopping around for insurance!
