I've been using a dlink dir-825 running openwrt. Slightly faster than the Asus Rt-N16 and highly configurable. I plan on upgrading to an Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite in the near future.

I live out in the country, no access dsl, fiber. I have my own wireless trunk to a local provider. Speedtest: 32MB down, 3 up, ping is 8ms. Trunk supports up to 90MBs both directions if I want to pay more a higher service. Pingtest jitter: 1 ms.

Our electrician installed a 20 circuit 30A generator panel and we just told him which circuits we wanted on backup power. He installed a cable to plug into the 240v socket of the generator. It cost ~$900 - money well spent to let him worry about the wiring details! We got our 7200w generator...

We have a UPS installed on our computers, network equipment, and our TV. If voltage or frequency goes out of an accepted range, they transfer to battery mode. First time we ran our generator, all the UPSes were transferring to & from battery like crazy because the frequency was bouncing...

Just curious - I have a "Champion" generator that I've used to get through many outages. Tuned it to run exactly at 60hz and never had an issue using electronics or the furnace. What's so bad about them?

I'm not a huge fan of bell... couldn't give a crap for providing decent service for those of us who live in the country. Find a local fiber provider. I pay $49/month. Unlimited 30/3. I have to provide my own wireless trunk though to one of their CPEs though...

You should consider recording the POS screen as a time stamped channel on the DVR. Much easier to catch the ones voiding orders and undercharging...
