I rode up to Flesherton the other day and rode some of the routes listed in this article. Very pretty countryside with lots of autumn foliage. Some of the roads are very narrow and have no shoulders, and there's loose gravel in spots. But I had them all to myself--other than the side-by-side ATV...
...to the mob.
This morning there was a big bust of the Calabrian mafia in Toronto, Hamilton and Woodbridge. A name caught my eye: Marco Maone. A guy with the same name was a member of the motorcycle theft ring that was busted in the GTA three or four years ago.
Could be another guy, but the...
I took a new Strom on a 600 km rip through Muskoka and Haliburton on Thursday.
First thoughts...
Not a conventionally handsome bike, but very striking, with great fit and finish. Better looking in person than in photos.
Comfortable riding position, with a firm but supportive seat. One of...
I guess nothing on the 4-series highways should faze me now, but I continue to be shocked at how many drivers weave in and out of the HOV lane, regardless of lane markings. As if our highways weren't dangerous enough, now I have to watch for idiots on my left when I'm in the passing lane...
I couldn't use a magnetic tank bag for the Strom, so I got this: the Giant Loop Fandango. It holds 1 giant roti from Gandhi on Queen St., and three cans of cold beer. Perfect after a long day's ride in the country.
Low-sided today--my first crash in more than 10 years. Coming West on Britannia, I stopped at Walkers Line, then turned left to go up the big hill. I rode about 75 feet, then BAM! I was on the ground, and my Strom was in the gully. A couple of nice guys stopped to help me right the bike. As we...
Hey all! I'm looking for input for a 2013 tour. I'll have 10 days or so, most likely in late May or early June. I have a hankering to see the East Coast; I have a few friends out there, and it would complete my Canadian coast-to-coast riding experience. But other than the Cabot Trail I'm not...
I had the chance to ride these two bikes over the weekend.
The BMW has a torquey motor and tall first gear that makes it very quick off the line. The exhaust growl is surprisingly aggressive for a Beemer--very sexy. The seating position is on the sporty side, with high, rear-set pegs and a...
Yesterday I did a loop around Rice Lake, and stopped at Muddy's Pit BBQ in Keene. They've got smokers running on-site, with brisket, pulled pork, baked beans and homemade iced tea. Nice patio with picnic tables. Great place.

Hi, all. I'm planning a trip to the Eastern Townships the w/o June 18th. Any recommendations on "can't miss" roads, inns or restaurants would be appreciated. Given that it's a relatively small area, I'm thinking of staying in one place for a few days, rather than travelling from town to town...
I was caught doing 70 in a 50 zone (oops) a few weeks back. $180 and three points. I don't often get tickets, but this one smarts and I'd like to fight it. Any advice? I spoke with Forch at Redline, but I'm not sure this situation justifies Redline fees. I haven't had a conviction since 2009...
