    Aliexpress

Ordered a oil-fill cap from AE, cost me $25 vs a store price of $60, the quality of the item was the same and the order delivery tracking matched that of Amazon. It was delivered in 12 days vs the ETA of 15 days. Also, was not dinged by custom broker fees. AE used a courier outfit "Apple" for...

    Neither. I use Liqui-Moly.

    Home office

India, used to be the go-to for offshoring. That country now has rivals in the Phillipines, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt. IMO, offshore support is largely "reading from a supplied script", nothing to match the "can do" attitude of onshore support and no way do the offshore match the cultural ethos...

    Where the angry drivers are!

Brampton tops the list of cities with the highest rate of road rage incidents in the province with a 6.05 per cent share of the overall market. Next on the list is North York (4.63 per cent) and Scarborough (4.51 per cent). Both show high aggression levels. Hamilton (3.84 per cent), Mississauga...

Are you switching to Windows 11?

Issues: - Had to blow the manufacture installed WIN 11 and re-install from MS Cloud. This was coz I couldn't partition the disk to the size I wanted as the said manufacturer dumped the WIN 11 image right in the middle of the disc instead of at the begining. They are aware of this problem and...

Are you switching to Windows 11?

WIN 7 was a good release. With WIN 11, MS is playing the Mac game i.e. bringing in hardware specs for O/S eligibility - before, the key word was "recommended", now it is "must have".

Are you switching to Windows 11?

GG has aptly summarized the answer to your question. In short, after-market anti virus programs are a roll of the dice. None of my machines run any of these programs.

Are you switching to Windows 11?

Banking? Then you definitely need a computer that will receive security updates. As of Oct 2025 (or Oct 2026, if you pay for the extended support), computers running WIN 10 will stop receiving updates. Based on your stated usage, you may want to (a) check if your current machine can be upgraded...

Are you switching to Windows 11?

Once upon a time you could run Windows with 2GB RAM, the latest iteration requires 16GB RAM. Linux requires less, you can get away with 4 GB to 8 GB RAM. That being said there is a reason why most companies operate their IT on Linux based platforms - stability and inherent security.

Are you switching to Windows 11?

Agree with GG's comments. - To "backdoor" WIN 11, you will have to make changes in the BIOS as well as make a couple of registry hacks. The "backdoor" version will not accept the WIN 11 update to 24H2. - The WIN 11 installation is painless but the post installation updates were not so. - Linux...

Are you switching to Windows 11?

Windows 10 is EOL in Oct 2025 and if you have an older computer, Windows 11 will not load on that. Options: - Keep the older computer, make a couple of registry hacks and backdoor load Windows 11. The problem with this is that the updates may fail and the whole point of getting to Windows 11 is...

    No laws against headlights

How 'bout legislating that the position of headlamps be only "x" ft above the horizontal? Vehicles can stll have the beam spread and lumen power but now the lighting is directed on the tarmac vs into other driver's eyes. Till then, the other alternative is to shell out for anti-glare eye-glasses.
