    Nicky Hayden

My favorite Nicky story, when he was racing the ama series, he was asked why he chose number 69. He said it ain"t nothin kinky, it was the number his dad used to race, and he was on his head a lot so you knew who it was if the bike was right side up or upside down. Rest in peace Nicky.

Storing a gas tank for awhile, how to prep?

My Interceptor spent the last 10 years in the basement, tank drained and sprayed with oil. Brought her out of retirement and was shocked to see the inside covered with surface rust. On a positive note I can vouche for a product called metal rescue. Tank turned out spotless inside. Next time I...

    Almost bought the farm x2

I have been riding for decades and have my share of close calls over the years but never 2 in one week. Incident #1 Going south on #30 York/Durham line 6:15 in the morning so its nice and dark, just coming up to Major Mac and a suv heading east to the stop sign at 30 blows through and out onto...

    The 'Death Wobble'

Riding the lakeshore east of Newcastle with a couple of buddies one day , the guy ahead of me had a Harley Nite Train. As we were going over some bumps I could see his frame/ swingarm flexing and the front/ rear wheel going out of alignment. Maybe that's why Harley riders don't wave.... it's...

    Foggy Ride

Pretty dicey riding in this morning with the fog droplets on the visor you are continually wiping to see, compounding that when you ride up out of a low spot you hit warmer air and the ol visor instantly fogs over inside and out. Then you get the glare from oncoming traffic on top of...

    Sneaky Radar Pirate

So if your southbound on Meadowvale by the Zoo beware. Twice this week I saw a two wheeled constable with his Harley parked under the overpass, there is a very large green transformer box beside the road to which totally conceals his presence. He just leans out and dings you with his trusty...

    Markham & Progress - 09/06/2015

There was an accident there yesterday. Two weeks ago I am eastbound on Progress stopped at the lights curb lane, buddy in a car beside me, light turns green for us, I hang back a bit to double check and some knucklehead who was south on Markham turning east on Progress decides to go for it and...

Oiling chain while on the road without center stand?

An old newfie taught me this trick. Stand beside the bike, soak rear tire with chain lube, rev to 8 grand and dump clutch. Ya got 10 seconds before anything happens.... if you can see the chain for the smoke

Toronto should crack down on loud motorcycles: Editorial

I was in the bank across from timmy's in Port Perry, there was a pirate on a custom chopper with 12 inch exhaust pipes that point straight down sitting at the lights. Just as I stepped out of the door the light turns green and the doornob nails it, almost had a heart attack, thought a bomb went...

Cutting Your Exhaust Pros & Cons??

I have Two Brothers slip ons and cut them down by about 6 inches. No noticeable increase in noise, Two Brothers have a nice deep tone anyways. They are more proportionate with the bike now, love them.
