You've got some good advice here. Your alleged speed isn't anything to write home about but you're still in the game. Foot must've slipped on the accelerator, huh?
Let's not forget the past rides that have resulted in death and serious injury. I can show you the bikes that are sitting in police impound that were crashed on group rides while doing wheelies on the 401. If you think the danger isn't real, or if the risk is worth the reward of being a 5 minute...
Here's a scenario that might sound a lot like what happened last night:
A group of riders took to the highways to do whatever it is that makes them feel special/invincible. They took over the road by blocking other traffic and holding other vehicles back. How would that make you feel?
One...
I'm of the opinion that since a wide variety of motorcycles were designed to be operated while sitting on the seat or standing on the operator's pegs, standing up while riding doesn't constitute a stunt. As mentioned in an earlier post, if you stand on the pegs and go hands-free, I'm pretty sure...
I would say so. When I see a sideways mounted plate beside the drive chain/shaft, with no light on it, I interpret that as "Please Officer, let's discuss the Regulations at the roadside, I'm more important than everyone else in the Province and do not feel the need to mount my plate properly"...
Still looking for the riders that were with him that day. Didn't even stop. If anyone has info, shoot me a PM. I wrote the report on that one and would like to have more witness info.
If I had reliable information (ie. video) of a tow operator joy riding in an impounded vehicle, I would be more than happy to pursue that. Most of the tow operators that I have worked with would never risk it. Writing down the mileage is a great idea, and easy insurance. Especially if the tow...
If you're going to trial, you're going to trial on both charges, not just one. The carrot in this scenario is that if you plead to one, the other is withdrawn. If you start quoting your "rights" with the prosecutor, they will not offer you anything. You will wind up in a trial for charges you...
As far as I recall, the sound testing that the MTO is pushing is the SAE J2825. Meters are few and far between due to their cost. But, the meter would only be needed to enforce the bylaw, as the HTA doesn't have a dB limit. The HTA only talks about 'unnecessary noise', and improper muffler.
Didn't know this thread was still going... for those still reading, dig out your e-laws website bookmark and open up regulation 611 to the motorcycle Schedule (I believe it's #6). These are the requirements to get a safety standards certificate for your bike. Look at the wheels and tires section...
MTO sends out a letter, but it's not registered mail. No one has to sign for it, and after 5 days it is "deemed to be served". Prior to those 5 days, a charge is unlikely as the officer is to wait until confirmation of the suspension service is received.
Also, the administrative fee to...
If you take each of the charges and break them down into their elements of offence, you are left with simple to answer questions. ie. failing to surrender a permit = did you drive a motor vehicle on a highway? did you surrender a permit when asked to do so by the police? If the answer to those...
I have seen many licence plate issues with motorcycles. I don't feel that mounting a plate sideways beside the swingarm is conspicuous, for the simple fact that I can't identify the letters/numbers quickly. I have to look harder, maybe turn my head to read it, and isn't the whole point of the...
OPP teaches to ride staggered on the highways, and paired when going through towns. That's what the training is. I disagree with our riders not wearing the PPE, despite how bad our stuff is. It's better to wear something than nothing at all.
Parade duty is usually paired up, but then we're...
