02 Yamaha R1 very odd running/idling problem - video included!

I know eh, that's what I couldn't figure out! There was no build up of symptoms like running rough or anything, I just go to start it that time and the spark plugs said NO MORE!! I did notice it got worse the longer I ran the bike and the more I gas it throttle....clue #1 I suppose!

02 Yamaha R1 very odd running/idling problem - video included!

Changed the plugs and all is back to normal!!! Super clean and smooth idle, great throttle response and no more stalling! I can't believe fouled plugs would cause such symptoms! Thanks for all the replies and I hope this helps someone else out too! I totally skipped over the basics so now I...

02 Yamaha R1 very odd running/idling problem - video included!

When I had the throttle bodies off I checked the hoses and connections and everything looked good. I'll take another look just in case, vacuum leaks are sometimes really tricky to find! I agree with the misfiring but I don't think the throttle bodies would just become that out of sync to go...

02 Yamaha R1 very odd running/idling problem - video included!

Hey, So I go to the grocery store to pick up some milk, everything is good with no problems at all. I go to start the bike and it sounds like it was misfiring with rough idle/rumbling then dies. Hmm, so I start the bike back up and it idles a bit better but still a bit rough. I managed to limp...

Liter Bike insurance for a 25 year old...

I called SF to start the policy and they reviewed the quote and now told me $4400 for the year... WTF!! The woman I spoke to the second time was a complete ******* and extremely rude. I was not happy at all. I asked what changed and she said she didn't know. So now it's time to shop some more...

New rider to the Barrie area

It was TOO loud!! I still have it and it takes 2 mins to change exhausts so maybe when I feel like wearing earplugs I'll put the shorty pipe on and see how it sounds on the road haha Ya it's some kind of car exhaust tip tack welded to a clamp. Looks clean but not my style. I prefer the Delkevic...

Great info, I really appreciate that! It definitely gives me a bit of relief to hear that, I knew riders were separated in different classes so it makes sense they do it by skill level. Don't get me wrong, I'm not scared of the bike but I do respect it and will treat it good so it will take care...

Thank you! Lol ya couple people have told me that but the ones that know me just told me to keep both wheels on the ground till I get comfortable with it :) Not really, I've been on dirtbikes and a few of my friend's bikes but no real seat time on normal roads.

Hey everyone, My name is Phil and I'm 25. I'm in Borden which is right outside of Barrie. I'm planning on doing a bunch of rides in the GTA because that's where all the riders are! I've always been a car guy and love working on anything with a motor. I finally got to a point where I'm happy...
