Has anyone messed with home-made dynos?

Years ago a guy I used to know in Texas was making home made dynos using arduino, some welding tools, a big heavy metal roller, and a harbor freight table lift.

This isn't the guy I knew but it's the same idea:

Part 1

and Part 2

Anyone ever seen some kind of home made setup like this??

Also, if anyone's good at welding, good at sourcing a big machine-balanced metal roller, and good at electricity-ical and you want to come together and do a project, I can cover costs, do the programming, and the providing air conditioned space and beer... Maybe if three of us join forces, we all pitch what we're good at, we can make three of em and everybody goes home with their weird franken-dyno machine?

what are you going to do with a dyno at home?
over 20 years riding and 10 years racing / track days i've gone through 23 bikes and could probably count on 2 hands how many times I had to get the dyno'd

Respectfully... What the heck kind of question is that? 😂

What would I do with a dyno at home? First, put my 9 shitboxes on my dyno! I'd start with my two little 250ccs to see how they compare. Why not? Then the next weeked I'd invite all my friends to bring some frozen burgers over on their shitbox bikes so we do dyno runs on their toys while we grill.

Maybe we could put two donation jars on the side, one to raise funds for Ride for Sight, one that collects donations so we can get a stripper for the next monthly shitbox dyno party.

You said dyno and "had to" in the same sentence?! My friend, we are not the same. There is no need going on here.

It'd be 80% for the want of fun
20% for the want of challenge
0% for need, racing, or anything other than having a good time ******* around with motorcycles in the garage like God intended us to do :)

Does he need a dyno? Of course not . Can he do lots of interesting things if he had one? Of course. He makes money by making content. Lots of potential videos there. It also makes carb setup easier, faster and safer than pulls on the street.

Be careful with by-law Adri. Dyno runs are loud and a complaint could shut you down.
