E bikes rampaging Toronto streets

Queensland cracked down big time but overstepped. Upped the allowed speed on bike paths to 12 kph from 10 ....25 if no traffic on the path. Bunch of other minor tweaks.

Lots of eXXXX machines for sale on FaceBook as parents made responsible. <<< Likely the biggest hit.

They are still trying to figure out a way to allow parents to deliver mulitiple kids to school via eBike.

Since it is already common practice gonna be a ***** to legislate.

To be fair, back then you could actually get somewhere for $10 in a taxi. Now when I spend $10 in a taxi I get about a 2 minute walk from where I got in the taxi. Fuel prices aren't what they used to be and I think we can't judge things as if they're still the same.
Queensland introduced a 50 cent anyone anytime fare for buses and uptake has been terrific. Even I've used it. !!!!!

Another fail in long term planning for the politicians. It's what happens when people fail to take into account sustainable long term growth. Their only interest is re-election and favouring their friends.

A hijack but if they want healthy conditions for senior citizens it's too late for the current crop. Start right now working with 25 year olds so they are ready in 40 years.

The missus saw someone doing crack on the TTC last week. I know you've been gone for a while, but, yeah, it's gotten really bad...

I used to take the TTC daily for years, but between the homeless people taking over entire subway carts, piss, and the bed bugs spotted on trains and busses, I would want an agent negotiating the terms of how much the TTC would have to pay me to ride it today.

The missus only takes it because she's medically unable to get a license. She only stands, never sits. If you get to union station around 7 AM before all the commuters come through, especially on a day the Leafs, Jays, or Raptors have a home game, you'll see them hosing out last night's puke off the sidewalks outside of Union.

She was willingly getting up at 6 am to work a 7:30 to 3:30 pm rather than a 9 to 5, just to have a better chance of not having to deal with crazy people harassing her in the morning. Unfortunately the TTC is crumbling.

The city found $200 million to pay for the world cup though... What a ******* joke.

Ahhh Toronto the good.

I go to thrift stores for kicks and sometimes come up with great finds in hardware and kitchen stuff. Last week I was making my way across the store from one department to another and passed through women's wear.

A chubby old babe decided to try on a new to her top and, right at the clothes rack, doffed the one she was wearing to do it. There she was, bra and bulges in the middle of the store.

For me, where are the eye wash stations when you need one?

Driving through newmarket tonight after dark and there was a person on an electric bike (surron style) ripping down the sidewalk at ~60km/h with no lights. That would absolutely wreck an unsuspecting pedestrian. Rider had a full face helmet. I don't know if that was primarily for crash protection or avoiding consequences.
I think I've seen who you're talking about. Looks like a teenage kid in the Mulock and Bayview area. I don't think he even has pedals on the bike.

Sounds like the same person. That was the area I saw him. It's not an ebike by any definition. It is basically an electric dirt bike.

Emmo Ebike sales and repair shop caught itself on fire in Toronto today. Thankfully fire was extinguished before it got out of hand. While Emmo is the posterchild for Wynnebags DUI mobiles (and I will be shocked if they didn't pay her off), I suspect they are safer in general than some of the other crap without recognizable brand names.

Joseph Lucas didn't die. He moved to China.

Electric bike (not an ebike) vs TPS chase. TPS lost bad.

at this point i think we need better "nomenclature"

it gets confusing because everything falls under "ebike" lol

but to the outside people, there's no difference :ROFLMAO:

e-dirtbike, e-moto, e-moped, e-kickscooter

Literally emmo puts em all under "e-bike" on their website and then just separates by "style" but we all know they're not all made equal

Ebike has a legal definition. Those Emmos may all be legal ebikes (I maintain that wynnebags classification rules are misguided and harmful but at least they are clear). The thing in the video is clearly a motorcycle and not an ebike.

Saw my first surron here the other day. A kid was ripping wheelies up and down the road which does look cool, but I wondered what happens if he wipes out at that speed and takes out a pensioner or damages someone’s car. Some kind of obligatory insurance band might make them ride a little more carefully at least.

On another note, I wonder how far we are away from directed EMP devices that can basically switch off electrical equipment? Ali express versions of those would be hilarious fun switching off the methheads preferred mode of transport while they are raiding Amazon packages.
