Portawalls

So I’m curious has anyone have any experience with portawalls ?? As the rear tire of my bike is not billable in a white wall it seems. If I move to a larger size I’ve been told the bike won’t drive or handle as nice either

The bike requires a 140/90/15 factory and right now I have a 130/90/15 on it, smallest tire for my bike with a premade white wall is 150/90/15 which I’ve heard you should not do, due to rear rim width and it’ll affect handling and acceleration and such. It’s for my 08 Suzuki s40.

Honestly I'd never even heard of "Portawalls" before. There is not a big custom bike community here on GTAM - there are a few guys who build racebikes and stuff. If there are current folks doing aesthetic builds they are keeping quiet about it. Maybe, *maybe* JohnnyP636 would have known about them, but he doesn't hang around here anymore.

I know Ryca Motors figured out a way to get whitewalls onto the Savage / S40 with their RR-1 kit, but it looks like that also converted it into a hardtail. Also, they seem to be dead now.

Other than that... for this type of question you might want to seek out a more specialized online community/forum/subreddit etc

Ya I have tried but I’m not having any luck lol

I’ve seen guys on YouTube who have the bigger tire on the rear with actual white wall tires. But I keep getting told not to do such due to the tires size to factory 2.75 wide rim

That's what I would think as well. I once had an oversized rear tire on an FJ600 in the late 80's and it was definitely noticeable, unpredictable as the carcass warmed up, and ultimately unsafe in spite of being a high quality tire.

I don't know how much bigger your tire option is, but there is a very good reason to stay with recommended sizes.

some of the hotrod guys do it , Portawalls is but one brand . There are several "kits" online and Youtube vids to show how. It seen them at car shows and they look ok , but almost too white.
Coker Tire in the US makes out of market tires for all the vintage cars , maybe see if they could do a bike tire . Expect to pay the moon + exchange rates .

Well the factory tire is 140/90/15, the smallest tire I have found in a white wall for bikes is a 150/80/15
