What is a KLR good for?

IMG_2468.jpegI have been wrenching on a KLR650 and got her licensed and all that. I have been riding her around and now I am trying to figure out what a KLR is good for? If you know me then you know it is old and has neon! It is honestly a donkey, slow as ****! It did however make my other bikes feel really fast! I am truly scared to take it on the highway, seems everywhere I go someone is right on my ass.
Is a KLR for:
1. Not getting tickets
2. Making your other bikes feel faster
3. Making you feel like you have short legs
4. For old people
5. Impressing farmers or cattle
6. Being the slowest vehicle on the road
7. Conserving gas
8. Saving money on spark plugs
9. Imitating a donkey
10. Getting the exact same insurance quote from mutiple companies within 10 bucks!

You can park it at the bottom of a lake for two years, fish it out and it'll start and run as good as the first day it rolled out of the factory

Your absolutely right, I think mine was at the bottom of a lake for a few years!

'Not true.

'Buddy has his beater KLR stolen out his driveway in Guelph. It was just parked. Not insured as he was riding a second bike.
He reported it stolen anyway and assumed it was gone.
'Couple years later he is contacted by the OPP.
They recovered the bike during a meth lab investigation/raid in Stratford Ontario.
They said he could pick it up at an impound yard out there...
We did, even though the impound fee was way more than what the bike was worth lol

KLR is for budget minded adventurers who lack the gene that drives the need for speed.

Dependable, low cost, easy to maintain, and can be repaired or rebuilt with the factory tool pouch.

If I could only own 1 bike and could not afford a Vstrom, I’d have a KLR.
 
If you're about speed then move on.
If you're about having everybody compliment your bike move on.

If you're about exploring back roads and going where most sport bikes don't go stick with it.
If you're about breaking the speed limit on gravel roads (Remember you NEVER see cops there) stick with it.
If you're about comfort on long trips (long travel suspension hoovers up bumps) stick with it.
If you're about not being intimidated by curbs or speed bumps stick with it.
If you're about saving money (cheap to buy, insure, fuel and maintain) stick with it.
If you're about not being concerned when you dump your bike stick with it.
If you're about the fun that only a big single can provide stick with it.

Agreed! And I do even have the factory tool set! I was most shocked about the speed, huge difference compared to sport bikes!
