Hi Everyone,

My friend sold me a motorcycle. It's been with me more than a year, unregistered but the vehicle transfer doc with filled in my name by him.

1. Would it be a problem to register it now (since the 6 day window has long gone)

2. The tax on the vehicle that I will have to pay; I've heard it's based on the value on the UVIP. It says I need a bill of sale, does he have to just write the price he sold it to me for on a piece of paper or something? Trying to lower the taxes
 
2. Other than a few rare instances (afaik only some bikes 2021 or newer), there is no value for a bike on uvip. You pay tax on purchase price. You could have bought it off your friend for $1. They may send him a letter questioning the price but it arrives as normal mail so they have no idea if he ever got it.

1$ raises flags 100$ not so much.
There is no "6 day window" that I know of.

Ahh got it. Yeah the motorcycle I bought was from 2013. How do I prepare a bill of sale etc to show them that this is what I paid for it?

I, (friends name) am selling my bike (Make, model, VIN) to (your name) for $100 as is where is. Names printed, Signed and dated by both parties (but SO obviously can't tell the difference between a random signature and your buddies).

IIRC it's also part of the UVIP where seller is supposed to fill in price. If you made a "mistake" on the UVIP, you can buy another one for $20.
