Battery cut off

Good morning folks

I'm very very disabled when it comes to wiring but I do my best.

Im buying a BOSS speaker system for my bike soon and apparently it hooks directly to the battery and is somehow always draining it and will kill the battery in 3 days. I think I need some sort of inline kill for the power that I can install on the line from the speakers to the battery so I can toggle it off and on. Can anyone know what these switches are called and where I could get one? And if it's easy enough for a complete noob to install?

It's called a switch. LOL

It needs to be capable of handling the required volts and amps.

The switch, and its electrical connections, needs to be protected from expected environmental conditions. OEM switchgear is protected inside an enclosure and connections are often sealed and weatherproof, but this is hard for do it yourselfers to achieve. A non weather resistant connection may work for a while if you are careful ... but makes the next thing more important.

The circuit needs to be protected by a fuse that is as close to the power source as possible and any wiring or connections on the + side of the fuse holder need attention paid to being protected against shorting to ground. I would be surprised if whatever you are installing doesn't have such protection, and if it doesn't, don't use it.

If such a system drains the battery despite being switched off, it isn't properly designed.

Thank you kindly :) I appreciate it. Found some toggle switches and as you explained the weather proofing is going to be problematic.... The speakers do come with the fuse inline so that part is ok, but the issue with the draw is odd and troubling, especially since I barely ride the bike once every 2 weeks if that.

Does the speaker have any other function? For example a radio with a built in clock slowly drains your battery even when turned off.
