well since age isnt a factor here, the best plan is to get that upgraded to an M2 and then go for requotes. I assume you have a gap in insurance/licensing here regardless of your experience, so the insurance gods will consider you a noob and charge you accordingly.

however its likely you'll be stuck paying through the nose (3-5k/yr) until you get some claim/ticket free years under that M2.

Yeah I understand it will be expensive until I have some experience on paper, however I haven't been able to find a company that will insure thebike without 5yrs with an M2. :(

it's been awhile since i hunted around for sport bike quotes lol, but i don't doubt it's getting harder.

try co operators insurance, surprised they do bikes at all actually.

when you speak to a broker you could ask about facility insurance, they should take anyone but..you won't like the number.

They are trying to tell you it's the wrong bike, but "Just bought a 91 GSXR 1100" sounds like it is a done deal so now what? Do you have a household or tenant insurance policy of your own? If you inquire about that at the same time as bike insurance they might try to make it work. it's a shot in the dark at best.

You might just have to face up to that reality and buy a second “insurance-friendly” bike.

When you get your post count up, please post some pics of the bike.

its a done deal, I traded for a 71 lemans convert. The bike is actually a 93, but its painted with the 91 color scheme. I don't have the bike in my garage yet. I am hoping to complete the deal this weekend. will post some pics as soon as I get it :)

perhaps put the deal on hold until you square away the insurance. there are plenty of more insurance friendly options to build your history.

" Usage: Most classic motorcycle coverage only includes approved rallies, historic runs, public parades and other sanctioned group events."
Most is their only understatement, take the word "most" out and now you have reality.
Classic motorcycle coverage only includes approved rallies, historic runs, public parades and other sanctioned group events. In reality if you qualify for Classic motorcycle insurance coverage, you probably don't really want it.

That type of insurance has very limited use...ie to attend/participate in classic bike meets/rallies/parades.

It’s not for going out on a pleasure ride on any Sunday unfortunately.

thanks for the reply. that is understandable. I will search around a bit more. if I have to buy a starter bike that's what ill do. thanks for the input guys its greatly appreciated

You have the quadfecta of difficult to insure.

- Old bike
- No experience on paper
- Supersport
- M1

You probably want to put it away in the garage and buy something to get that 5 years of experience under your belt otherwise you're going to be in the $$$$ range. If $$$$ is of no concern call a broker and direct them to give you a quote from facility - just be sure you're sitting down when you get the quote.

I don't think you will have much luck with these guys.

I have my house/car etc but I still got a crazy number for an FZ6.

sucks. buddy is with them and has better rates on his fz09 then i did..i thought just over $100/month was good lol.

i just pulled my business with them because they are absolute douche-bags. but that's another story.

I am thinking that I will probably buy a more insurance friendly bike for now and insure the gixer as vintage and only ride it in rallies etc. until I have some time under my belt.

So I did get a quote from State Farm for $3800 lol. So I've purchase another bike to get some experience on paper, 2009 GS500F, I have not yet called about insurance but I hope that this will be a little more affordable. I believe the bike is not considered "restricted" at least it is not on the list of restricted bikes I found. I got a really good deal on this bike and could easily double my money if it doesn't work out.
