Dover, anyone?

Just noticed today that it'll be Friday the 13th in less than 2 weeks. Anyone going to dust off their ride and freeze their butts all the way to Dover? My garage is currently frozen shut and probably flooding with the rain today so there is no way I'm going to make it. It's been such a long winter for me that I'll take any bit of vitamin M I can get, even if it's living vicariously through others' riding!

'No desire to be an extra in some OPP surveillance tape...

The long term forecast from the people that can't get the short term one right say H +7 and sunny. Too much salt around for me.

The last time I went to Dover was February 2004. I've never seen so many Camrys full of pirates in my entire life. Only a few dozen bikes. I have no desire to ever return.

You mean Free Pass Day. All the cops are monitoring Dover and the main roads in/out. The surrounding twisty bits are 99.9% cop free.

I might go and thanks for the reminder! Haven't been in over 10 years and I used to only go in the winter when it's less busy.
March is the perfect month.

Been there done that, but just once. No intentions of returning.
It was actually in my first year of riding. A small group ride with a few members from GTAM. I believe it was in 2005.

@Lightcycle lead the way with his wife as passenger. If I remember correctly they were on a a Suzuki GS500f. They were scheduled to receive their individual bikes in a few weeks after this ride.

Get old hat, nothing of interest. Besides snow and rain scheduled. Cops will be invisible with native **** going on!

So much hate!

I guess you guys don't like looking at motorcycles or getting together with friends. I do.
When I went there were very few motorcycles. Just tons of people wearing mostly leather and HD branded clothing. Posing is not my scene.

If I have my new ride by then anything is possible.

For me it's more about the excuse to go for a ride and often see some interesting bikes than anything else. Last summer I spent close to an hour chatting with the owner of a 2018 Star Venture (on my list of wanted bikes some day) about his ownership experience. That's what it's about to me more than anything else. Couldn't care less about the music and all that. I'm usually in and then gone within 2-3 hours tops.

no
if it didn't involve - for me - a 4 to 5 hour ride across roads that are boring
depending what sort of hell the 401 is
I might consider it

Wow, good memory! That seems like a lifetime ago.

I just remember it being *very* cold that day. I think we stopped in Hamilton to warm up.

Yes a long time ago.
I think the day was not so bad but it rained on the way back.
By the time we got to Hamilton it was pouring buckets.

I do remember that we stopped at the Crappy Tire downtown Hamilton to pick up rain gear. The yellow duck suits and some gloves.
By the time we made it to Mississauga, they were ripped.

Every time I drive by that CT now, I am reminded of this. Good times. :)

OMG, you're right. You're bringing back all sorts of memories now! :D

Good times, indeed!

Another thing that stuck in my mind from that day.

Harley Davidson had some sort of raffle/contest. There was two HD bikes to be won.
Someone in our group asked.
"How come you are giving away two bikes? Is it to ride one and use the other as spare parts?"

The rep under the HD tent was not impressed and just sort of laughed in denial.
