Question on motorcycle insurance

Can confirm, I've been with facility for 2 years now. Its not pleasant... ?

Facility Association
any broker can write the policy
there will be no magic deals anywhere

I concur. Insurance really is one of those "you made your bed, now you have to lay in it" scenarios.

Unfortunately, other people who present very low risk also have to lie in the bed too.

To a lesser extent, yes...but once you hit the right combination, contrary to popular belief, there is dirt cheap MC insurance to be had - I'm paying <$400/year now.

I was referring to moto and auto insurance. That "dirt cheap" price is really only if you live outside the GTA and have been riding for a long time.
$400 is likely the average moto insurance in other western countries whose riding season is all year round. We get hosed here.
My uncle in N.Ireland insures 3 high CC bikes for $350 per year and he rides them 12 months a year. My aunt pays $200 a year for auto insurance

Yeah $400 is great for Ontario. Although I know plenty of USA riders who are in their low 20's on 1000's with insurance around that, so it's all relative. And the whole difference in coverage thing of course. Ontario is insane no matter how you look at it.

Don't expect $400 in the GTA for the average policy. I have about the best rates you can get (I'm accident and ticket free with 40+ years riding experience and get a staff deal on insurance) I pay $240 for a 125CC, $600 for a DL650 and $850 for an FJR1300.

Thats another issue here. Nobody should be paying multiple accident benefits/liability premiums on several cars and bikes when they are the only operator.
Its a flat out scam.

The difference in coverage is a HUGE thing. That $400 insurance policy for a 20-something rider on a 1000SS in the USA is typically for a pittance of coverage.

I was lucky to have paid about 380 per year on ninja 300 in Burlington with TDMM. 30 at the time 7yrs experience, no accident and tickets, combined with home and auto.

I should've kept that bike. I spend more than that in a year for coffee and snacks at Tim's.

The difference is that you're not forced into buying duplicate coverages. I have the state min $100K liability on my car in the US, my personal umbrella liability covers another $2m, it also covers my house, and would cover MCs and boats too if I had them there. Also, I have health and accident benefits as insurance as a job benefit from my employer -- no need to buy those again for every motorvehicle. If I wanted to insure my litre+ bikes in the US, it would cost me less than $20/mo for each.

Here in Ontario I have same $2m umbrella however my insurer doesn't offer the provincial minimum, their base policy requires $1m so I pay that twice. My employer provides A/B, yet I have to purchase that in it's entirety on every vehicle I have.

Auto Insurance in Ontario is operated like a Cartel, the FSCO, IBC, and Province have a cozy relationship that favours them over us taxpayers.

A pittance of our rates sounds pretty darn good to me! Not really sure what all of our duplicate health coverage is for anyway. Would love to have that process explained to me without the use of "what if". I'll never see more cash income then the pensions I draw now anyway and those continue as long as I have a heart beat. If I do get hurt I go to the hospital, flash my OHIP card (that I have essentially paid for over the span of my working life), wait in a pathetically uncomfortable steel chair for 6 hours, have my X-rays, get the injuries poked at by a young doctor and sent home to heal. If I need a slim chance at millions in mythical cash payouts I can buy a lottery ticket for 2 bucks. lol That pretty much sums up the reality of it, doesn't it?

Is just a rhetorical post rant on my part, no real need to respond, but you are welcome to contribute your own rhetorical post rants ;)
