Opinions on Echelon

Hey all,

I'm considering getting motorcycle insurance with Echelon via Dalton Timmis. I have a couple of speeding tickets and am a new rider so my options are limited. My only concern is the number of very negative reviews (well over 100) I see of Echelon on Google:

I'd like to know what experiences the GTA motorcycle community has had with Echelon. Great, good, bad, horrible? Would you recommend them?

Thanks in advance!

I was with them for several years
premiums just kept going up and up - no tickets or claims

this year I moved to Wawanesa - 2 bikes for less than one with Echelon
my broker - M&W was losing them anyway
I hear they were bought out by CAA
didn't think brokers were quoting them anymore

I just moved the other way, from Wawanesa to Echelon. I don't remember much about the enrollment process, which is probably a good sign. I will switch insurance companies at the drop of a hat, though - as soon as that increase letter hits my mailbox I start checking out quotes again

Echelon was most competitive and rates stayed great. Handled my accident and claim professionally.

No complaints.

Been with them for 6 years now, zero complaints and my premium is dirt cheap. But then, I have a spotless driving record and an undesirable, oldballs bike.

Been with Echelon for about 14 years. Get other quotes every couple of years and they are usually the lowest or only a few dollars more than other companies so not worth switching to me. I'm over 65 and have one speeding ticket on my record. Ride a 1700cc cruiser style bike.

My car is with Desjardins. Bikes are with Echelon (3 yrs) through Dalton Timmis. I find their billing system a little antiquated. I can't get direct withdrawal. I paid on time the last two years but they still sent me a notice stating I was going to be cancelled for non-payment. I had to call Timmis and straighten it out each year. I get the impression they're on a shoe-string budget.

? Must be a DT thing, had no such issues with M&W/Echelon

are they still selling through brokers?
Don't expect an intelligent response from that user. Called them for a insurance quote when I needed to renew, was bluntly told I can't help you.

Same, I have them through riders plus and have never had a problem with billing/direct withdrawal. A bit slow, but otherwise good customer service imo.
