Aug long weekend scoot 2019

Got to the suspension bridge today. Really good, great views. I will definitely head there again.

I did a long day today. Kingston to Tamworth, Tweed, Campbelford, Havelock, then north along the east side of Kawartha provincial park (to the Swiss Bear restaurant....great place, get the schnitzel sandwich). Bancroft then Denbigh (stopped at the Princess Sodalite Mine first), then Buckshot Lake Rd off highway 41, Plevna, then Ardoch Rd to the 509, Sharbot Lake and home via highway 38. Hit up some of my favourite roads today. Bancroft to Denbigh is great, Buckshot Lake rd is twisty and always empty, 509 is well paved twisty and empty.

I love those roads. I learned to ride on the hydro lines between Flinton and Plevna in the 70's and later kept a place on Sharbot where I taught my kids to ride on the roads and trails between there and Arden. Nice roads, excellent variety and almost no traffic. Dangerous at night!

I saw what appeared to be a well manicured trail along some hydro lines today. Fresh grey gravel stretching quite a way. Can’t remember exactly where but it was near there for sure. I’ll have to head back and go for a ride and explore, only issue is it looked like large grade gravel, almost rail bed rock. I’m usually careful to be off these roads after dark...between the deer and drunken bro-dozers it gets a bit hairier.
