Classic Superbikes for Grand Bend Mopar CSBK National

These are the same people who did this as a support race for CSBK at Grand Bend in 2017?

Hopefully they will have more bikes come out.

This is a new group called CBSR and there is 4 races, two at Grand Bend and two at the CSBK finals at Mosport. Both weekends there is a full race Saturday and Sunday with point, trophies, prizes and give aways.
The grids should be plus 10 for sure, I am racing and know of at least 4 others so far.

Last year I was at GB on my 600 race bike and was lapping with a friend on an 81 CB900F and he was beating many modern bikes.
Its going to be a good show!!

Hopefully they will have more bikes come out.
Problem there might be the rules of engagement, it has to be a bike built between 36 and 41 years ago to play :/
" If you have a Race Ready Classic Superbike, 1978- 1983 Middleweight, 750cc, or 1978-1982 Heavyweight
900cc – 1100c motorcycle, you can join us for some Classic Superbike Racing at the National Level. "

I imagine this year you will see almost the same bikes out there as last year, because it's not like anybody is making more of them. That's a big problem for the future of vintage motorcycle racing, for a racing class that specific participation numbers usually don't go up they slowly go down.

They had a nice display at the Spring Show, quite a few bikes. Hopefully there will be riders for all of them.

Now here is a curious requirement:
"BRAKES: Maximum of 4 Pistons per caliper allowed
(period correct), fixed or full floating rotors as used in the period, 320mm/13" maximum
diameter,"

Who made full floating 4 piston callipers 40 years ago for them to be period correct :/ 4-pots didn't even appear on trials bikes until y2k

The interest level is really good and we are seeing more interest in the vintage bikes specifically this era of 900-1100cc bikes. Next year is the 40th anniversary and lots of things are happening in the back ground.
Something to consider is the group like me who want to race them, we watched them race as factory bikes in the 80’s and its never left us. We are also now able to afford a factory race bike but brand new built today, trust me, there is no shortage of bikes, parts or talent.
Last year I rode the black Kat from the bike show at Mosport for 3 laps built by Prostar, a week later he had my go ahead to build me one.

As for the show the Hindle and Art Robbins bike are collector bikes, the miller bike is also a collector and all the other bikes 2 Honda’s and the Kat will be raced. Interesting fact, pushing the Hindle bikes was a workout, pushing the modern built Kat was like a 600, massive difference in rolling weight and pure pounds.
I support the CBSR guys and help them out so have first hand knowledge just so you know I am not a troll.

As for brakes yes, there was full floating brakes on the factory bikes and available for purchase from Brembo and others. I held them in my hand and they were ancient but fully functioning.

Floating rotors date back to at least 1968, on Gus Kuhn Nortons with Norvil parts.

The brake rules are a compromise. The VRRA originally mandated period correct brakes, two piston opposed with 11" disks, but was petitioned to align with AHMRA and other vintage entities to allow modern brakes, wheels and tires... for safety reasons.

You will find these bikes now have 17" hollow spoke wheels, slicks and 4 pot calipers with 13" disks... which is all from the '90s.

These bikes are VRRA Period 3 Heavy. The class was built around the 1982 Superbike class; twin shock, air cooled four cylinders. Eddie Lawsons, GS1000/1100 and Honda Cb1100F. There are LOTS of them, the class is getting bigger every year at VRRA.

... if anyone wants to play, I have a competitive '79 GS1000 I could be talked into selling... just have to swap out the 6 pots.

Soooo, what do you have? Send me the details please. I get asked for vintage bikes all the time and maybe we have a fit.
PM is fine too.
Thanks
