First time ride with m2 is $1700 a reasonable quote?

Depends on your postal code, driving history, expected use of bike (commuting to work/school), and the # of extra horsepower-boosting stickers on the bike.

Basically, we need more info (except the stickers ).

Have you got any other quotes?

Seems a little steep. For reference, at 25 I was paying just under $1k for full coverage on a CBR250, living downtown, no tickets, fresh M2. This was a few years ago mind you.

If tickets on your record and/or location = Scarborough or Brampton, then it wouldn’t seem that wild at age 20. Click the “heat map” link in my signature below and see where you fall on the map.

Need more info, as others have said above.

Also, have you called around? If this was just the first quote you got it doesn’t mean others will be the same.

Can't see it on tapatalk, can we get a link?

You have tickets or accidents by any chance?

I pay $137 a month without tickets for a 2014 ninja 300 and started the policy at 21.

Riding is not cheap, you have to pay to play.

Using the M&W Online Quote Tool, I Was Quoted $1377/Year ($115/Month) with Echelon on a 2007 ZZ-R250 Ninja with $2486 Purchase Price & 11000km/Year of Pleasure Use with $1mil Liability & $500 Collision & Comprehensive Deductibles assuming I get my M1 this month & M2 in June with Safety Course, However I'm 29 & my Area code in the Heat Map (N0B) Shows Estimated Premium of $1018. Going Back to the Quoting Tool & Changing my Birth year from 89 to 98 so I Get a Quote as a 20 year old instead of 29 brings it up to $2243/Year ($187/Month) Through Aviva.
So I Think the $1700/Year Quote the OP got is Good, Granted Online Quote tools should be taken with a Grain of Salt.

I got constant quotes of 1.9k-2.1k at age 19/20 when I started a bit ago. I was east Toronto proper with no driving record (G1 for maybe a year or 2) with a 2004 250ZZR. So you're getting better than I did that's for sure.
It was that or, go away we dont wanna insure a new rider.

Seem a little high, started on a 09 ninja 250 when i was 21 and paid $1300 for liability only with Mississauga address. Try statefarm/certas.

Age:20
License: M2 + MSF course
Bike: ninja 250r

Quote: 1700/yearly with comprehensive (not full coverage).

Is this fair?
Seems exessive imo.

Hey. I did my MSF course and got my M2 last year (Aug 17’), I bought a 2015 Ninja 300, got insurance from RidersPlus, they quoted me for $1,700/year. I was 23 at the time and live in Ajax, ON.

For a real shock, calculate your motorcycle insurance premiums in dollars per kilometre.

Looks pretty good to me...

At 20, I was quoted ~$1600/yr for the same coverage on a CBR125 (This is after 1.5 years of riding experience). It was approx $90 more for a Ninja 250.

Give Desjardin a call. I was paying at $1400 at 20 for a 250cc
Yes Desjardins. They gave me a good price for my son. His cost $1200 year at 18 yrs old (Virago 250) and got below $500 (Ninja 250) by the time he was 23. He got his M2 at 18.

I'm 24, no riding experience, no tickets in 3+ years. Have M2 and completed safety course. Live in Niagara. I was quoted $1749 by Mitchell & Whale, Riders Plus, and Dalton Timmis (all through Echelon Insurance) for a 2006 Suzuki GS500F. Your's seems pretty accurate compared to me.
