Safety Certification

New to the form and I've just bought a bike of a friend of mine. I need to get the safety cert. before I can get my license plate permit completed though. Does anyone know of a place in Toronto (I'm downtown) that does this? So far I'll I've found is Canadian Tire. They want to charge $100 for what I assume is like a 10 minute job. Worst part is they have no time to do this until Friday morning. I'd like to get it done sooner and pay a local shop/owner for the work rather then the Tire corp..

Any help would be great to get! Thanks in advance.
 
Any MC dealer can do that along with any shop that has a licensed tech working, Flying Squirrel, Studio Cycle come to mind for downtown(ish). Your not going to be much under $100 since the cost is not only the tech's time but they have to buy the book of papers from the ministry (just got the wife's bike safetied at St Onge and was $80). Keep in mind too that shops are still busy right now so you might be waiting anyways...although I avoid CT for any service and wouldn't let them touch my winter beater for a safety let alone my bike.
 
I agree with you on CT. But so far they are my only hope. I tired Flying Squirrel as they were recommended to me by a friend. But unfortunately they do not do safety's, and they recommended me to CT (it is close to their shop). I'll look into Studio Cycle...
 
Come to Mississauga Canadian Tire, tech there is a motorcycle nut, a mechanic, and loves to ride, builds his own bikes,,,,,,and so on......good luck in getting a sub par safety out of him.....ohhh did I mention he works for Canadian Tire.....

not all Mechanics that work out of Canadian Tire suck, they too have to make sure they keep their license, I am sure none of them want to lose that just because they got lazy....

Also a safety is just that, it don't mean the bike is the best it can be, it just passes MTO guidelines.......
