New Aviva Supersport Insurance Rules

So apparently Aviva will no longer insurance you on a supersport without 4yrs of continuous experience starting Jan. 1, 2017. With rates already so high for supersports and so many companies blacklisting them altogether, can it get much worse than this?

Note for Mods - I would of posted this in the insurance sub forum but that forum rarely gets frequented. This may be about insurance but It really ties into the future of supersports in Ontario

.

where did you get this? Its very possible this is a quote from a mislead/confused agent. Call paul south to confirm.

I got the same speech from a 60 year old lady working for statefarm, but when i asked paul he said she was confused, in that aviva will not insure anyone over a certain CC unless they met certain criteria. Had nothing to do with supersports

Where did you get this info? they have new guidelines coming in for bikes under 751cc.

Maybe more Youtube vids of riders stunting on public roads in heavy traffic will change their minds? I'm pretty sure it worked before.

Won't insure or make it really expensive to insure a rider w less than 4 years?

Apparently or allegedly?

I'm going to go out on a limb and take a guess on the reasoning for this decision by Aviva - Too many claims in the young+inexperienced+SS market?

Any changes in the cruiser market with Aviva, Simon?

Unforunately I don't know why they are changing this.
Nothing Specific for Cruisers PrivatePilot

With regards to changes in general, they have changed some rates to lower for selected models. They did not give us a list. :(

Changed the loyalty and Valued Customer discounts to be included in the star rating so they won't show up on the policy anymore.

I guess I'd best call and see what's happening with our renewals then...both of our bikes are under Aviva through you guys.

Hi - Are the premiums only going up if you are under 29? or are the premiums going up for everyone regardless of age but even more if you are under 29?

Hey Guys,

To confirm, there have been some changes to the Motorcycle rates with Aviva, which will be affecting you as of Sunday (Jan 1[SUP]st[/SUP].)

There are some good things to the bad things…. For New Riders, Aviva is allowing less than four years of experience to ride motorcycles up to 751cc, where the make and model of motorcycle are not surcharged. This has increased from the previous threshold of 660 cc.

However, they’ve increased the age factors for riders 16-34 years of age, as well as the surcharge for super sport motorcycle riders 29 years of age and under.
This means that No, they will not cancel you if you’re under29 y/o. They will simply increase premium.

Sadly, this doesn’t look good. But on the plus side you can get a bigger bike at a younger age!

Simon

I can see in Ontario in the near future more and more 300cc on the road together with sport touring and dual P- bikes.

As if riders over 29 are that much more mature, really? It seems arbitrary.

I guess It's based on the statistics, riders over 29 are much more likely to have a family, things holding them back from driving carelessly. Which would then cause accidents.

Not to mention experience riding

Interesting...I have plans to switch everything to All State when the car and home renew in March, but I guess I'll be sure to double check with Aviva for the bike (renews in June). Car and condo are with TD MM right now, and bike is with Aviva.

I think Allstate still will be more $$ compared with Aviva. I'm also with them and so far i'm very happy.

I read something about raising rates for the 16-34 age group.....does that apply to people who ride non super sport as well???
