Close call today

Correct me if I am wrong, but you are deemed 100% not-at-fault, then there is no deductible.
In a not at fault claim (other party responsible) there is indeed no deductible for the innocent party so long as it wasn't a hit and run...IE, the other persons insurance company must be involved.

If it's a hit and run then unfortunately even though you are not technically held at fault from a claim or insurance cost increase perspective, you do get stuck paying the deductible.

that would depend on your policy.
when i was 18-22 i put $500 deductible on non at fault claims. it made my rates a little lower.

I have never heard of this. You should not be paying anything for not at fault claims.

If this was me I'd be demanding she pay cash for the damaged parts. Also, watch out she doesn't make a claim and try to blame you. It's happened to many people and can cause a mess for you.

OP, glad you're ok!

Similar thing happened to me years back. Elderly driver in a minivan changed lanes into me despite me blasting my OEM horn (got a Stebel after that). Oncoming traffic to my left & he was closing me down, so I powered out and my passenger peg caught the front bumper inside the wheel well and pulled it mostly off. His grill was damaged as well. I stayed upright and not even a scratch on my V-Strom. The guy wouldn't speak English to me, but when I asked for his licence, he pointed to his plate, Lol.

Glad you're OK. I had a weirdo in a cruiser riding in my lane yesterday

its a option you can add. you can raise and lower deductibles (as long as the underwriter accepts your risk levels..lowering them is sometimes not a option) or add more of them to different coverage.
you can also add a higher income replacement benefit, add more AB to your policy and a couple other things.

at the time that i had the $500 non at fault deductible i requested it, and it was with TD.
i also had 2 non at fault claims within 5 years or so... one the other driver (only driver actually, and neighbor ...he hit my parked truck..) paid the $500 for me and the other i had the $500 waived by the adjuster because the other driver refused to cover it.
its not a common add on and good luck having it waived if you select this option, but can be beneficial if you have higher rates. there is a gamble to it though, you dont save $500 per year.. i think i saved about $200.

I know you can raise and lower collision deductibles but I have no collision coverage and wouldn't need it in this case.

Race schools or track don't help, just take some ramps and twisties and you are good to go!

Thanks

Almost got side swiped the other day on Sheppard at Bayview. See this all the time at that intersection going west bound. A lot of people aren't sure where their lane entrance is after the intersection and end up drifting into the next lane to the right, even if it's occupied. If you're in the right-most lane keep an eye out for the vehicle next to you.
