2013 FZ8 Fazer impressions?

That seems a little low. I might put in ~12L at ~200kms of mostly city/hwy (60%/40%) riding. Burning, say, 16L of fuel (17L tank; want to leave a little for reserve) should net something more like 260-270kms.

My FZ1 will do 260-270km, would imagine the FZ8 to be better than that. That number drops significantly in the city with heavy acceleration.

Thanks, and is 200km when you get the fuel light Blackfin?

It'll go to perhaps 220, give or take, when the display flips to reserve. According to my manual, "official" reserve it typically 3.4L. I often put in around 4-5L at this point; YMMV.

Of course but trying to get a general idea. Some reviews were very harsh when it comes to mileage but then these guys tend to really push the bike.

Anything that you dislike about yours? I know that suspension was adjustable 2013 and on. One major complaint about older ones.

I'm demoing one tomorrow and FJ-09 next week.

I wasn't impressed by my test ride on the FJ09. Fueling was bad getting on the gas, the delay was down right scary in A mode. Also kept kicking the clutch cover when going for the rear brake. On the FZ1 forum, there are a few posters that bought one and sold it a very short time later. Something to consider.

Mine's an '11 and has what's been termed the "duff shock." TBH, I've never really noticed any show-stopping deficiencies in the suspension for the city/country/commuting riding that I do. If I had to complain about something in the suspension it would actually be the front: I think it could use a little more preload and perhaps some more compression damping. But it's a great ride for normal riding like I mentioned above. If you can get the '13 with the (more) adjustable suspension I'm sure you could better tailor it to your own liking.

What else...? A couple of hours in the seat results in, er, arse discomfort. Um... Yamaha's low-beam headlight is the "left on, right-off" so people keep telling me I have a light out. The FZ-family turn signals are a little wobbly.

It's not the fastest, the lightest or the most willing to lift its front wheel but it's an excellent "sport tourer", IMO.

Are you sure you're not thinking of FZ-09? The naked one? Because I have definitely seen complaints about fuelling and throttle on it. FJ is supposed to have fixed that and also supposed to have stiffer suspension.

Nope, definitely FJ. Really wanted to like it, came away disappointed.

Stock seat on almost every single bike sucks. The "burned out" look I dislike also but that is not exactly a deal breaker. Many motorcycles have that assymmetrical thing going.
So basically - you sound happy with your purchase. Thanks again for sharing!

Coming home today I was at 214km with 1 bar of fuel showing. I was expecting the reserve indicator (F-Trip) to start running at any moment. Figured to bone dry would get me around 250km (??). I commute almost exclusively with it. 120-130kph (on speedo) 50kms 1-way to work (all highway).

Over next winter I may finally bite and get the ECU done by Guhl's, and also purchase a custom or Shad seat.

Beyond that, I'm also looking at something like a Versys 650. Why? Better mileage and wind protection - all in the vain of what works well for commuting.

Lol, I get 160km before my light comes on, on a 750

Think I'm gonna pull the trigger on the Fazer.
2 things I didn't like about it after the test ride - seat and the location of foot pegs.
Seat because I felt as if I was sliding off it, towards the tank; and foot pegs because where I normally put my feet down on the ground, lines up my legs right with those pegs so they poke me.

2 other very minor issues - turn signal light doesn't indicate left or right and there's no gear position indicator.

Shad seat and top box gives you a pretty nice sport touring set up. Kid did 3 weeks solid riding the west coast and then home with me on his 13 FZ8...and Fazer is better faired. Nother 3 weeks coming up June 24th and he's commuting every day.

Gear indicator is easy fix.

Pegs - kid tends to put one foot down which shifts the angle a bit....I find his a bit top heavy at rest ( guess who gets to put hisaway at times ) .... but nice with the Shad seat when I'm on it.

I personally never minded the seat, but had mine redone by "Dirt Road" on the FZ1OA forum. Cost was about $150. It's definitely more comfy now, a tad bulkier than I would like though, but all the aftermarket seats are similar.

That`s a common complaint with the stock seat. For me too. You`ll adjust to the footpeg location, and it only occasionally bugs me trying to back up. I don`t need a seperate indicator light for each direction. I know which way I`m going. I also can see the blinker`s light off the black cowling. A gear indicator would be nice on ALL BIKES! No idea what every manufacturer does not do this.
