Whoever did the original install just put the clutch stack back in the same as OEM. You have to ditch the bottom most engine plate and make sure 2 of the fibre plates(they are different) go in first.What was wrong with it?

That's incorrect.
Yes, there are a few classes where it says you can. Lost Era, and a few others, are silent on the matter. I still say: nowhere does it say you can't.
I didn't write the rules ... Obviously in this case if the intent was not to prohibit them, it would have been more consistent for the rulebook to simply not mention them. (Who is going to disassemble your clutch to find out what's inside it anyhow?)
If you think this is bad, try interpreting codes and standards in the real world.
(No slipper clutch in my fizzer ... Never had the need for it ...)
