Camping at Calabogie

Hi folks,

I've been reading some old threads about camping at Calabogie and it sounds like camping in the pits, on asphalt is really the only option. Is this still the case? Also, if we're planning to arrive at the track on Sunday for Monday/Tuesday track days what time do the gates close (Pro6 is there Saturday through Tuesday)?

Thanks

At the track the only option is camping on the asphalt pit area. Everyone does it.

The gate usually closes between 9 and 10pm. Vague I know, but its not an exact science. Email Sheena for a better idea. Although locking the gate isn't a Pro 6 decision or function. So maybe contact the track directly.

There is a little bit of grass beside the washrooms. It gets taken pretty quick. Some more down by corner 1 that is not used much. Gates close at 11pm as far as I know. I could be wrong.

Okay, we should be fine then. We're probably going to leave shortly after lunch time, so should get there around 6-7. People will likely still be packing up and leaving at that point. Just wanted to know in case we end up running late.

I wouldn't suggest camping out by the grassy areas, as it's also by the bushes and the bugs are REALLY bad right now. I was up there thus weekend and they were ridiculous.

Bring DEET

Yeah, I was thinking about bugs and wildlife too. I guess there have been a few bears getting into campsites. Probably best to camp all together.

Camp by the rocks and the raccoons nick your food at night. Camp by the pit wall and silly girls bang on your trailer roof when you're trying to sleep. Canp in the middle and you get raccoons and silly girls. And Quebecers with big RVs and no taste in music.

Bugs are a complete horror at dusk and night.
